''The Carson City Kid'' is a 1940 American Western film directed by Joseph Kane starring Roy Rogers, George "Gabby" Hayes, and Bob Steele. Plot The Carson City Kid (Roy Rogers) is a stagecoach robber seeking vengeance on Morgan Reynolds ( Bob Steele), the man who killed his brother. Reynolds is travelling with Laramie (Francis McDonald), a notorious half-breed outlaw. Rogers falls in love with saloon singer Joby Madison ( Pauline Moore). George "Gabby" Hayes appears as Sheriff Gabby Whittaker. Joseph Kane
Jasper Joseph Inman Kane (March 19, 1894, San Diego – August 25, 1975, Santa Monica, California) was an American film director, film producer, film editor and screenwriter. He is best known for his extensive directorship and focus on Western films. Biography Kane began his career as a professional cellist. In 1934 he took an interest in film directing and, starting in 1935, he co-directed serials for Mascot Pictures and Republic Pictures. He soon became Republic's top Western film director. Kane's first directorial credit was for '' The Fighting Marines'' (1935). When Mascot Pictures and several other small film companies amalgamated into Republic Pictures in 1935, Kane became staff director, remaining at the studio until it ceased production in 1958. He piloted many Gene Autry and Roy Rogers movies and directed John Wayne in films such as ''The Lawless Nineties'' (1936) and ''Flame of Barbary Coast'' (1944), and Joseph Schildkraut on '' The Cheaters'' (1945). George Rosener
George Michael Rosener (May 26, 1884 – March 29, 1945) was an American film actor and writer. He also wrote and acted in the Frank Buck serial ''Jungle Menace''. Career Rosener began his acting career at age 19 as a circus clown, followed by stints in tent and medicine shows, vaudeville, and stock companies. He was a playwright whose 1927 play ''Speakeasy'' (written with Edward Knoblock) was adapted for film in 1929. Rosener acted in or directed more than 200 plays, including ''My Maryland''. He was on the news staff of the ''New York World''. He worked for the Shubert family, operators of the Broadway theater district, for more than seven years as an actor, director, and writer. Joseph Eastburn Winner (1837–1918) was an American composer and music publisher. He is best known for his tune, " The Little Brown Jug" (1869).
