The Breaking Of Bumbo
''The Breaking of Bumbo'' is a 1970 British comedy film written and directed by Andrew Sinclair, a former Coldstream Guards National service officer that was updated from his 1959 novel of the same name that featured the Suez Crisis. It starred Richard Warwick, Joanna Lumley, Jeremy Child and Edward Fox. Plot Newly commissioned Guards Ensign 'Bumbo' Bailey learns the facts of life from his new girl friend in Swinging London as well as from his platoon and commanding officer. Cast Production In January 1970 Andrew Sinclair and Jeffrey Selznick announced they had formed a company, Timon Films, to make a film of ''Breaking of Bumbo'' in association with Associated British. John Bird (actor)
John Bird (born 22 November 1936) is an English satirist, actor and comedian, known for his work in television satire, including many appearances with John Fortune. Early life John Bird was born in Bulwell, Nottingham, and attended High Pavement Grammar School, Nottingham. While studying at King's College, Cambridge, he met John Fortune. Bird became well known during the television satire boom of the 1960s, appearing in ''That Was The Week That Was'', the title of which was coined by Bird. Anouska Hempel, Lady Weinberg (born 1941) is a New Zealand-born film and television actress turned hotelier and interior designer. She is sometimes credited as Anoushka Hempel. Early life Hempel is of Russian and Swiss German ancestry and has speculated that she was born on a boat ''en route'' from Papua New Guinea to New Zealand. Her family emigrated to New Zealand where she was born. They later moved to Cronulla, south of Sydney in Australia, where her father owned a garage. William Fox (actor)
William Hubert Fox TD (26 January 1911 – 20 September 2008) was a British character actor and writer. He enjoyed early success on the stage playing juvenile roles. After a six-year interruption for military service in the Second World War, his acting career did not reach the heights of his early years. Early life Fox was born in Manila in the Philippines, the son of a successful trader who operated across the South China Sea. His parents travelled extensively, and whilst still an infant he had visited Madrid, Paris and London. In 1916 Fox was sent to preparatory school, then attended Haileybury public school.
