''The Boy in the Tree'' () is a 1961 Swedish drama film written and directed by Arne Sucksdorff, starring Tomas Bolme, Anders Henrikson, Heinz Hopf and Björn Gustafson. It tells the story of a troubled 16-year-old boy who seeks liberation in nature and teams up with two poachers. Arne Sucksdorff
Arne Edvard Sucksdorff (3 February 1917 – 4 May 2001) was a Swedish film director, considered one of cinema's greatest documentary filmmakers. He was particularly celebrated for his visually poetic and scenic nature documentaries. His works include ''Pojken i trädet'' ('' The Boy in the Tree'') and the Academy Award-winning ''Människor i Stad'' ('' Symphony of a City''). Perhaps Sucksdorff's most widely admired work was the internationally acclaimed '' Det Stora Äventyret (1953)'' (''The Great Adventure'') about a year in the outdoors told in semidocumentary fashion from the viewpoint of a farmboy. It is noted for its remarkable photography and authentic scenes of nature, and its appeal to children for its story of domesticated otters. Björn Berglund (16 October 1904 – 3 August 1968) was a Swedish stage and film and television actor. Biography Björn Nils Johan Gustaf Berglund was born in Jörn, Västerbotten County. He began his career in cinema in the 1939 Edvin Adolphson-directed musical film ''Säg det i toner'' (English release title: ''The Dream Waltz'') starring Håkan Westergren and Stina Berg. His career would span nearly four decades and he would appear in over seventy-five films. He died in Sweden at 1968 at age 63. The Swedish Film Institute ( sv, Svenska Filminstitutet) was founded in 1963 to support and develop the Swedish film industry. The institute is housed in the ''Filmhuset'' building located in Gärdet, Östermalm in Stockholm. The building, completed in 1970, was designed by architect Peter Celsing. Barbro Hiort af Ornäs (28 August 1921 – 27 November 2015) was a Swedish stage and film actress. Biography She was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, the daughter of Alma (née Ärnström) and Erik Hiort af Ornäs. She had a brother, Torbjorn. Along with Bibi Andersson, Eva Dahlbeck, and Ingrid Thulin, she won the Best Actress Award at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival for ''Brink of Life''. Åke Leonard Lindman (born Åke Leonard Järvinen; 11 January 1928 – 3 March 2009) was a Finnish director and actor. In his youth Lindman was a football player, playing defence for the Finnish national team during the Olympics in Helsinki 1952. He represented the football club HIFK in the Finnish league where he played 81 games and scored 9 goals, he also played in second division for 8 seasons. In the 1960s, the British English Football League club Swindon Town F.C. wanted to sign him, but he turned them down to focus on his acting career. Åke Lindman's breakthrough as an actor came with his role as the stubborn soldier Lehto in the Edvin Laine film'' The Unknown Soldier'' in 1955.
