The Block Party Series
The Block Party Series is a Nigerian urban music event held monthly since January 2018, first in Lagos, until the 2020 pandemic. The Mainland Block Party is on the last Sunday of the month except for the anniversary edition on 1 January. Island Block Party is on 24 December. The Block Party Series is organized by Tobi 'Alhaji Popping' Mohammed of The Top-Boy Firm, Moyo Shomade of TASH Studios NG, Bizzle Osikoya and Asa Asika of The Plug. The Block Party has partnered with MTV Base. The Block Party series has featured in four major cities across West Africa; Lagos ( Island and Mainland), Abuja, Accra and Ibadan. On stage, it has featured the likes of; Major Lazer, Sarz, Niniola, Teni, Zlatan, Skales, DJ Obi Obinna Levi Ajuonuma (born 29 April 1985), professionally known as DJ Obi, is a Nigerian disc jockey and Syndik8 Record's official DJ. Afrobeats
Afrobeats (not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing), or Afro-pop or Afro-fusion (or Afropop or Afrofusion), is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the 'Afrobeats' umbrella. Afrobeats is primarily produced in Lagos, Accra, and London. Lagos Island
Lagos Island (''Ìsàlẹ̀ Èkó'') is the principal and central local government area (LGA) in Lagos, it was the capital of Lagos State until 1957. It is part of the Lagos Division. Obinna Levi Ajuonuma (born 29 April 1985), professionally known as DJ Obi, is a Nigerian disc jockey and Syndik8 Record's official DJ. He won Best World DJ at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was nominated for 2016 The Future Awards Africa Prize for Creative Professional. Early Ajuonuma is from Ideato South, Imo State. He was born in Lagos State to Levi Chibuike Ajuonuma and Josephine Ajuonuma. Raoul John Njeng-Njeng (born 1 April 1991), better known by his stage name Skales (an acronym for Seek Knowledge Acquire Large Entrepreneurial Skills), is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter. Teniola Apata (born 23 December 1993), professionally known as Teni The Entertainer is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and entertainer. Early life Teni was born on 23 December 1992 in Lagos State. Major Lazer is an American electronic dance music DJ trio, which includes record producer Diplo, and DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums.
