The Blind Wink
''The Blind Wink'' is an album by Appleton, Wisconsin-based rock group Tenement. It was properly released in December 2011 by Chicago hardcore punk label Cowabunga Records, following a cassette that the band released themselves for a West Coast tour in January 2011. It was re-issued in 2016 by Canadian hardcore punk record label, Deranged Records. Wisconsin country-rock band Dusk covered "Hey, Soozie" on their debut self titled Don Giovanni Records album in 2018. English rock band Martha covered "Dreaming Out Loud" as a b-side to their 2022 Dirtnap Records single, "Beat Perpetual". Reception Razorcake: "This record is a beautiful oddity. While it might not have been as essential if the impact of Napalm Dream was still in the air, as a continuation of that record, it feels just as important. In a perfect world, Tenement A tenement is a type of building shared by multiple dwellings, typically with flats or apartments on each floor and with shared entrance stairway access. The ...

Pop Punk
Pop punk (or punk pop) is a rock music genre that combines elements of punk rock with power pop or pop. It is defined for its emphasis on classic pop songcraft, as well as adolescent and anti-suburbia themes, and is distinguished from other punk-variant genres by drawing more heavily from 1960s bands such as the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Beach Boys. The genre has evolved throughout its history, absorbing elements from new wave, college rock, ska, rap, emo, and boy bands. It is sometimes considered interchangeable with power pop and skate punk. Pop punk emerged in the late 1970s with groups such as the Ramones, the Undertones, and the Buzzcocks. 1980s punk bands like Bad Religion, Descendents and the Misfits were influential to pop punk, and it expanded in the 1980s and early 1990s by a host of bands signed to Lookout! Records, including Screeching Weasel, the Queers, and the Mr. T Experience. In the mid–late 1990s, the genre saw a massive widespread popularity increase w ...

Bruised Music, Volume 1
''Bruised Music, Volume 1'' is a compilation album by Appleton, Wisconsin rock group Tenement, released by Grave Mistake Records and Toxic Pop Records. It is composed of singles and rarities from the band's first four years. The album was ranked #1170 by '' The Village Voice'' on their 2015 Pazz & Jop critics poll. Reception Punknews: "Sounding like a darker, more depressed Midwestern version of the Descendents, Tenement’s brand of pop punk is heavier, harder and better than most of their ilk." Rock Freaks: "...Given the compilation nature of the album, the quality of song varies quite significantly from the more anonymous tracks to the quality songs that make Tenement worth following and checking out especially live. Those on the second half of the record are arguably catchier than on the first half, but it's still mostly a fan release and probably not suitable as the starting point to the band." Ahead of ''Bruised Music, Volume 1'' 's release, ''Stereogum ''Stereogum ...

Tenement
A tenement is a type of building shared by multiple dwellings, typically with flats or apartments on each floor and with shared entrance stairway access. They are common on the British Isles, particularly in Scotland. In the medieval Old Town, in Edinburgh, tenements were developed with each apartment treated as a separate house, built on top of each other (such as Gladstone's Land). Over hundreds of years, custom grew to become law concerning maintenance and repairs, as first formally discussed in Stair's 1681 writings on Scots property law. In Scotland, these are now governed by the Tenements Act, which replaced the old Law of the Tenement and created a new system of common ownership and procedures concerning repairs and maintenance of tenements. Tenements with one or two room flats provided popular rented accommodation for workers, but in some inner-city areas, overcrowding and maintenance problems led to shanty towns, which have been cleared and redeveloped.
