The Black Forest Girl (1950 Film)
''The Black Forest Girl'' () is a 1950 West German drama film directed by Hans Deppe and starring Paul Hörbiger, Sonja Ziemann, and Rudolf Prack. It is based on the 1917 operetta of the same title by Leon Jessel and August Neidhart. The film was a huge commercial success, both the biggest hit that year and the most popular film since the war. Within two years fourteen million tickets were sold in West Germany, and on the strength of it Sonja Ziemann and Rudolf Prack topped the popularity charts and received Bambi awards. The film's success revived the popularity of Heimatfilm, which came to dominate the German box office over the coming decade. Production It was made at the Tempelhof Studios in Berlin while Location shooting took place in the Black Forest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Gabriel Pellon. Hans Richter (actor)
Hans Richter (12 January 1919 – 5 October 2008) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1931 and 1984, mostly in supporting roles. He was born in Brandenburg, Germany and died in Heppenheim, Germany. Life and career Hans Richter made his film debut as "Fliegender Hirsch" in Gerhard Lamprecht's ''Emil and the Detectives'' (1931), based on the novel of the same name by Erich Kästner. In the following years, Richter become a popular juvenile actor; often playing clever, somewhat cheeky boys (a type similar to Mickey Rooney in the American film during the 1930s). When he reached legal age, he had appeared in over 50 films. After his supporting role as a lazy schoolboy in ''Die Feuerzangenbowle'' (1944), Richter got drafted into the German Wehrmacht and was also in war imprisonment for some time. Fritz Kampers
Fritz Kampers (14 July 1891 – 1 September 1950) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 250 films between 1913 and 1950. Early life Fritz Kampers was the son of a Munich hotel owner, spent his early childhood in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and attended a boarding school in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria. After completing secondary school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship in a textile shop in Munich and at the same time took acting classes with Richard Stury, who presided as president of the Munich experimental stage. After appearances at small suburbs in Munich, such as the Alhambratheater, he wandered through the province and finally found engagements in Alzey, Karlsruhe, Lucerne, Sondershausen, Helmstedt and Aachen. Gretl Schörg (17 January 1914 – 4 January 2006) was an Austrian operatic soprano and actress. She was particularly known for her performances in operettas. The film is based on the fairy tale of the same name originally published by Wilhelm Hauff in 1826. Plot Peter, a woodsman and his mother live in the Black Forest where he exists by selling charcoal. Stung by the ridicule of the wealthier inhabitants of the village and desiring to marry the beautiful Lisbeth, he sees his only chance for prosperity by locating a good forest spirit, the small Glasmännlein who grants him two wishes at first, then a third wish later.
