''The Bill Watters Show'' is a former sports talk radio program on CFMJ AM640 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hosted by Bill Watters and Jim Ralph, it aired weekdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. CFMJ
CFIQ (640 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Richmond Hill, Ontario, and serving Greater Toronto. The station airs a talk format and is known as ''640 Toronto''. It is owned by Corus Entertainment with radio studios and offices in the Corus Quay Building at 25 Dockside Drive in Toronto. CFIQ is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for Canadian AM stations. To protect other stations on 640 AM, it must use a directional antenna. Although it is licensed to a suburban community north of the city, its transmitter is about 60 kilometers (38 miles) south of Toronto. CFIQ's eight-tower array is in the town of Lincoln, in Niagara Region, near the southeast corner of Greenlane and Merritt Road. Bill Watters
William Wayne Watters (born June 29, 1943) is a Canadian sports media personality and former Assistant General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. College career Watters was a fullback and linebacker with the Toronto Varsity Blues football team from 1961 through 1964. He was a team co-captain and league All-Star at linebacker in both 1963 and 1964. In his final season (1964), he received the Johnny Copp Trophy as the team's Most Valuable Player. Watters also was a member of the Wrestling Blues for three seasons (1961–62, 62–63, 63–64) and practiced regularly with the Varsity Blues men's ice hockey team, although he saw limited action in league play. He earned a total of three First Colours and five Second Colours, and served on the UTAA Men's Athletic Directorate in 1963–64. ''Leafs Lunch'' is a sportstalk show on TSN 1050 and simulcasted on TSN4. It is currently hosted by Julia Tocheri and Michael Distefano. The show, which currently airs between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm in the Toronto radio market, primarily focuses on the Toronto Maple Leafs and also discusses topics related to the NHL. History On January 12, 2013, Leafs Lunch with host Bryan Hayes and analyst Jamie McLennan officially launched, replacing previous shows focused on the Toronto Maple Leafs that had occupied TSN 1050's 12 pm to 2 pm timeslot. Darren Dreger
Darren Dreger (born June 13, 1968) is a Canadian sportscaster for TSN, and currently serves as one of TSN's Hockey Insiders. He had previously hosted ''Leafs Lunch'' on CFMJ AM640 Toronto Radio. Broadcasting career After graduating from the Western Academy Broadcasting College, Dreger was immediately offered a job from a radio station in Winkler, Manitoba. However, in the same day, he was offered another job closer to home, which he accepted. Beginning in 1992, Dreger lent his voice as a play-by-play announcer for the Brandon Wheat Kings. This lasted until 1993 when he was hired to replace Daren Millard at CTV Winnipeg. While there, he also conducted play-by-play for the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Scott Morrison (journalist)
Scott Morrison (born October 7, 1958) is a Canadians, Canadian sports journalist for Sportsnet. He worked for the ''Toronto Sun'' throughout the 1980s and 1990s until he joined Rogers Sportsnet in 2001 as managing editor of Hockey. He was let go from Sportsnet in July 2006. He authored numerous hockey books, including ''Hockey Night in Canada: By the Numbers'', "Mats Sundin: Center of Attention" and ''Hockey Night in Canada: My Greatest Day''. He also contributes to CBC Television, CBC Radio and CBC Newsworld and appears often on ''HNIC''. He also provides information to AM640's ''Leafs Lunch'' and Bill Watters Show. Christine Laura Simpson (born October 5, 1964) is a Canadian television personality, best known as a hockey reporter, host and interviewer. She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Family Simpson's mother Marion was a cheerleader for the University of Western Ontario Mustangs and an Olympic sprinter. Don Simpson, her father, played for the Western Mustangs in the mid-1950s. Simpson is the younger sister of former CHL Player-of-the-Year and New York Islanders' draft pick Dave Simpson and the older sister of two-time Stanley Cup champion, and former Edmonton Oilers' forward, Craig Simpson, who is currently an analyst with ''Hockey Night in Canada'' on CBC.
