''The Big Store'' (french: Le Grand Bazar) is a 1973 French comedy film directed by Claude Zidi. Plot Four friends (Les Charlots) are fired from work due to their incompetence. Claude Zidi (born 25 July 1934) is a French film director and screenwriter noted for his mainstream burlesque comedies. Born in Paris, he started as a cameraman and then a cinematographer, and he made his directorial and screenwriting debut in 1971. He won the César Award for Best Director for ''My New Partner'', for which he was also nominated for Best Writing. Michel Gérard Joseph Colucci (, ; 28 October 1944 – 19 June 1986), better known under his stage name Coluche (), was a French stage comedian and cinema actor. He adopted ''Coluche'' as a stage name at age 26, when he began his entertainment career. He became known for his irreverent attitude towards politics and the establishment, and he incorporated this into much of his material. He was one of the first major comedians to regularly use profanities as a source of humor on French television. He also founded the charity " Les Restaurants du Cœur" which still provides free meals and other products to people in need. Michel Serrault (24 January 1928 – 29 July 2007) was a French stage and film actor who appeared from 1954 until 2007 in more than 130 films. Life and career His first professional job was in a touring production in Germany of Molière's ''Les Fourberies de Scapin''. In 1948, he began his career in the theatre with Robert Dhéry in '' Les Branquignols''. His first film was ''Ah! Les belles bacchantes'', starring Robert Dhéry, Colette Brosset (Dhéry's then-wife), and Louis de Funès; directed by Jean Loubignac in 1954. Serrault played in the 1955 suspense thriller '' Les diaboliques'', starring Simone Signoret and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. From February 1973 through 1978, he portrayed the role of Albin/Zaza opposite Jean Poiret in the play '' La cage aux folles'', written by Poiret. Christian Fechner (26 July 1944 – 25 November 2008) was a French film producer, screenwriter and director. After starting off as an illusionist, he became a music producer with French singer Antoine. He transformed Antoine’s musicians, les Problems, into a band named Les Charlots. Les Charlots
Les Charlots, known as The Crazy Boys in the English-speaking world, was a group of French musicians, singers, comedians and film actors, who were popular in the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. The group was active first from 1965 to 1966 as ''"Les Problèmes"'', under which name they made an album with the French singer Antoine. They renamed themselves ''Les Charlots'' and remained active from 1966 to 1997, then again briefly from 2008 to 2011 (as a duo).
