''The Big Day'' (), initially known as ''A Simple Wedding'', is a 2018 Singaporean romance comedy film directed by Lee Thean-jeen. Plot An Shuyu imagnines that her wedding with Xu Nuoyan will be simple. However, their wedding is interrupted by various things, such as overbearing in-laws and a jealous best friend. Desmond Tan (, born 19 August 1986) is a Singaporean actor and was named as one of the 8 Dukes of Caldecott Hill. Career Tan first came to prominence in the entertainment industry when he finished runner-up to Andie Chen in '' Star Search 2007''. He was awarded a contract with MediaCorp and began his part time acting career with some minor roles in various Channel 8 dramas. ''Shin Min Daily News'' () is a Singapore Chinese-language afternoon newspaper currently published by SPH Media Trust. First started on 18 March 1967, by Singapore businessman Liang Runzhi (梁潤之) and the renowned Hong Kong writer Louis Cha as an offshoot of Hong Kong's ''Ming Pao'', it featured exclusive serializations of some of Cha's ''wuxia'' novels in its early days. In the early 1980s, Cha sold his shares in the paper after the Singapore government ruled that foreigners could only hold up to 3% of shares in locally based papers. ''Shin Min'' is a tabloid-style paper focusing on entertainment and local news with sensationalised headlines, although it is printed on broadsheets. ''TODAY'' is a Singapore English-language digital news provider under Mediacorp, Singapore's largest media broadcaster and provider and the only terrestrial television broadcaster in the country. It was formerly a national free daily newspaper. At its inception, Mediacorp had a 60% stake in TODAY while, Singapore Press Holdings owned 40% of ''TODAY''. The newspaper was published and distributed from Monday to Saturday. Dato' Afdlin Shauki bin Aksan (born 19 May 1971) is a Malaysian producer, screenwriter, director, actor, comedian, singer, songwriter, and television presenter and politician. Liu Lingling (born 1963) is a Singaporean host and singer who has been active in the getai scene for more than five decades. As an actress, she has appeared in multiple Mediacorp drama series and local films. Early life and career Liu's parents are from Malaysia.
