''The Best of What's Around Vol. 1'', also known as ''TBOWA Vol. 1'', is a greatest hits compilation album by the Dave Matthews Band that was released on November 7, 2006. The two-disc set is the Dave Matthews Band's first ever greatest hits album featuring 12 studio tracks on the first disc, and eight previously unreleased live tracks on the second disc. Background In July 2006, an email was sent out to members of the Dave Matthews Band's mailing list, informing fans that a compilation was to be released in September, and they were asked to choose 10 of their favorite live songs (and their specific dates). The 10 most popular live songs were to be featured on the second disc of the compilation; however, only eight tracks are featured on disc two. With the rising popularity of the band's latest live release, '' Live Trax Vol. 6'', the compilation's release date was pushed back to November 7, 2006. Dave Matthews Band (also known by the initials DMB) is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991. The band's founding members were singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer and backing vocalist Carter Beauford, violinist and backing vocalist Boyd Tinsley, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The Universal Product Code (UPC or UPC code) is a barcode symbology that is widely used worldwide for tracking trade items in stores. #41 is a song by the Dave Matthews Band, featured on their 1996 album ''Crash''. Song history #41 was originally written by Dave Matthews as a reply to lawsuits brought by Ross Hoffman, a former associate and manager of the band. Hoffman owned rights to a number of the band's songs in the early 1990s; however, due to creative differences, he was eventually fired by the band, and the band's present manager, Coran Capshaw, was hired. As an owner of the band's songs, Hoffman felt he deserved a share of the profits, which later caused a legal dispute between him and the band. Matthews wrote the song based upon the broken-hearted feelings he was experiencing as he was going through legal disputes with a former mentor of his. ''Listener Supported'' is an album by the Dave Matthews Band, released on November 23, 1999. It was recorded live at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey on September 11, 1999. In addition to being the third live release by Dave Matthews Band, Listener Supported was filmed by PBS for an ''In the Spotlight'' special, and the entire concert was released on VHS the same day and DVD on February 8, 2000. The title of this release is taken from PBS's "supported by viewers like you" underwriting spot. It is currently the only Dave Matthews Band live album to not contain the date or location in the title. This is because part of the broadcast agreement allowed PBS to release their own audio CD version of the television special.
