''Listener Supported'' is an album by the Dave Matthews Band, released on November 23, 1999. It was recorded live at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey on September 11, 1999. In addition to being the third live release by Dave Matthews Band, Listener Supported was filmed by PBS for an ''In the Spotlight'' special, and the entire concert was released on VHS the same day and DVD on February 8, 2000. The title of this release is taken from PBS's "supported by viewers like you" underwriting spot. It is currently the only Dave Matthews Band live album to not contain the date or location in the title. This is because part of the broadcast agreement allowed PBS to release their own audio CD version of the television special. Dave Matthews Band (also known by the initials DMB) is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991. The band's founding members were singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer and backing vocalist Carter Beauford, violinist and backing vocalist Boyd Tinsley, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. As of 2022, Matthews, Lessard, and Beauford are the only remaining founding members still performing with the band. Danny Dill
Horace Eldred "Danny" Dill (September 19, 1924 – October 23, 2008) was an American country music singer and songwriter. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975. Biography Dill, born in Clarksburg, Tennessee, got his start as a professional musician while working with Annie Lou Stockard as Annie Lou and Danny, a duet act who performed on the Grand Ole Opry during the 1940s and 50s. Annie Lou And Danny Dill were made members of The Opry in the 1940s. Although Dill recorded as a solo artist, he found his greatest success as a songwriter. His 1959 tune, " Long Black Veil", written with Marijohn Wilkin, was Top 10 country hit for Lefty Frizzell and has become a standard recorded by many country, folk and pop music musicians. Granny (song)
"Granny" is a song by Virginia-based jam band Dave Matthews Band. Though never released on an official studio album, "Granny" was dropped from the ''Under the Table and Dreaming'' sessions. This song was originally intended to be the first single from that album. The song does not use LeRoi Moore or Boyd Tinsley on their respective instruments because the song is focused around a guitar melody without accompaniment. The song also features very sparse use of Carter Beauford's drumming throughout the main section. However, the final section of the song includes the repetition of the lyrics "Love...Baby..." where many members of the band sing at the same time. The song remains popular on live setlists to this day and appears on some live albums by the band including ''Listener Supported'', ''The Central Park Concert'' and '' The Gorge''. Warehouse is a song by Dave Matthews Band which was released on their first studio album, ''Under the Table and Dreaming''. A live performance of the song was also released on their early EP ''Recently''. This song ranks near the top of the list in terms of all time fan favorites. It’s been played since the very beginning and has remained a highlight of nearly every show in which it is played. Versions In the early days of 92-93, the song frequently featured a "Shortnin' Bread" interpolation towards the end of the song. After the summer of 1994, the last verse evolved beyond the mere repetition of "That's my blood down there". Starting in 1995, a stop-time intro began to occasionally be played during full-band versions. In 1999, fans from the original nancies mailing list began organizing to chant "Woo!" during the stop-time intro. "Everyday" is the closing track and third radio single from Dave Matthews Band's album ''Everyday''. It reached #38 on Modern Rock Tracks, and #8 on Adult Top 40. The song evolved from an earlier DMB song entitled "#36" and references The Beatles' song All You Need Is Love. When the song is played live, the song "#36" is mixed in with the song "Everyday." ''Under the Table and Dreaming'' is the debut studio album from Dave Matthews Band, released on September 27, 1994. The album's first single was "What Would You Say", featuring John Popper of Blues Traveler on harmonica. Two other singles from the album followed, "Ants Marching" and "Satellite". By March 16, 2000, the album had sold six million copies, and was certified 6× platinum by the RIAA. Recording The acoustic guitar tracks on the album were played by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. During the recording sessions, Matthews and Reynolds would sit face-to-face with a piece of glass between them, playing the same guitar part. This was done twice for each song, resulting in four acoustic guitar tracks (two from Matthews, two from Reynolds) all playing the same part on each song. Lowell George
Lowell Thomas George (April 13, 1945 – June 29, 1979) was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer, who was the primary guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and founder/leader for the rock band Little Feat. Early life Lowell George was born in Hollywood, California, the son of Willard H. George, a furrier who raised chinchillas and supplied furs to the movie studios. George's first instrument was the harmonica. At the age of six he appeared on ''Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour'' performing a duet with his older brother, Hampton.
