''The Best of Coal Chamber'' is a compilation album by the American nu metal band Coal Chamber, released through Roadrunner Records on August 10, 2004 on CD. The album mixes several tracks from their three studio albums, ''Coal Chamber'', ''Chamber Music'', ''Dark Days'', recorded from 1994 to 2002. It received 3.5 stars from AllMusic. Background The first five tracks of the album are all featured on Coal Chamber's self-titled debut album. The album was recorded at NRG Recording, North Hollywood, CA in 1996. Produced by Jay Gordon through Roadrunner Records, the album has been certified Gold by the RIAA, with an excess of 500,000 copies in the United States. A special edition version of the album was released in 2005, featuring 6 extra tracks. The live footage on the special edition was shot at the Whiskey A Go Go in LA, CA, 1996, which was included in Kerrang! 100 greatest gigs of all time. Coal Chamber
Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band formed by Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón in Los Angeles, California in 1993. Prior to Coal Chamber, the two had also created the band She's in Pain, in 1992. The original lineup also consisted of bassist Rayna Foss and drummer Jon Tor. Mike Cox replaced Tor on drums shortly afterwards, and thus the Coal Chamber lineup was complete. After signing to Roadrunner Records, they released their debut album, ''Coal Chamber'', in 1997. ''Chamber Music'' followed two years later and featured the band's only charting single in the US, "Shock the Monkey". Their third album, '' Dark Days'', was released in the spring of 2002. Nadja Peulen temporarily replaced Foss on bass for touring commitments, before joining on a permanent basis in 2002. Coal Chamber disbanded in 2003, after ten years together, and then reunited in 2011, with the lineup of Fefara, Cox, and Rascón, along with Chela Rhea Harper on bass. Dez Fafara
Bradley James "Dez" Fafara (born May 12, 1966) is an American heavy metal vocalist who performs in the bands DevilDriver and Coal Chamber. Early life Fafara is of Portuguese and Sicilian descent. His father, Tiger Fafara, and his late uncle, Stanley Fafara, were child actors on the '' Leave It to Beaver'' television sitcom. He has had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder his whole life. Fafara adopted the nickname "Dez" in honor of Dez Cadena, vocalist and guitarist for Black Flag and an early influence on Fafara. Career Coal Chamber Fafara released a total of 5 albums with Coal Chamber. Four of the albums, ''Coal Chamber'' (1997), which went gold, ''Chamber Music'' (1999), and '' Dark Days'' (2002), consisted of new material. "Loco" is a single by the band Coal Chamber. It is one of the band's best known songs. Music video The video starts off with the ice cream truck (which is on the cover of the album ''Coal Chamber'') rounding a turn and slowly coming to a stop with the beginning of the song playing. When Fafara says the opening line of "Pull", a crazed ice cream truck driver gets off the truck and heads into a nearby house which is home to the members of Coal Chamber. One by one, the driver hunts them down and forces them to stare into a View Master, which shows Coal Chamber performing the song. ''Uranium'' was an American television program about heavy metal which aired on Fuse TV (MMUSA when the program debuted) in the early 2000s. After establishing herself as the host of MMUSA's ''Tastemakers'' program, Juliya Chernetsky, along with network producers, created ''Uranium'' as an outlet for the broad range of heavy metal subgenres. Debuting in 2002 and hosted by a 19-year-old Chernetsky, it served as Fuse TV's equivalent to MTV's ''Headbangers Ball'', a long-canceled series that was revived shortly after ''Uraniums debut. ''Dark Days'' is the third studio album by the American nu metal band Coal Chamber. It was released on May 7, 2002. Background and content Bassist Rayna Foss-Rose left the band after this album was recorded; she was replaced by Nadja Peulen, who had already previously replaced her for Coal Chamber's tours in 1999 during Rayna's pregnancy.
