The Best (UK TV Series)
''The Best'' is a British programme which aired for ten episodes between April and July 2002 on BBC Two. The series starred British cooks Silvana Franco and Paul Merrett and Australian Ben O'Donoghue, who participated in a friendly competition to create the best dish for each of two given categories per half-hour episode. Judging was performed by a rotating panel of three judges, who were not told who created which dish. The series aired on BBC Two every Tuesday night at 8:30pm between 23 April and 16 July 2002 (except 25 June and 2 July due to a knock-on effect of Wimbledon tennis coverage). It was later repeated on the same channel between January and March 2005, and several times on the now-defunct UKTV Food Good Food was a cookery channel broadcasting in the United Kingdom and Ireland, latterly as part of the Discovery, Inc. network of channels. Silvana Franco is a British TV personality and chef. Early life Of Italian origin, Franco was raised in Derby. Following chef's training at High Peak College in Buxton, she studied a degree in Home Economics. Career A college work placement with the BBC's Vegetarian Good Food magazine led to a position as a senior writer for Good Food, following which she worked as Food Editor for Marks and Spencer magazine. Paul Merrett is a British TV personality and chef. 2] based in Godalming who is known for being a frequent guest chef on Saturday Kitchen, a resident chef on Sunday Feast, and starred in The Best along with Silvana Franco and Ben O'Donoghue. Benjamin O'Donoghue (born 22 May 1970) is an Australian chef. Early years O'Donoghue was five years old when his family moved from England to Port Hedland, Western Australia, Port Hedland. Good Food was a cookery channel broadcasting in the United Kingdom and Ireland, latterly as part of the Discovery, Inc. network of channels. The channel originally launched on 5 November 2001 and relaunched in its final format on 22 June 2009.
