The Bench (book)
''The Bench'' is a 2021 picture book for children written by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. It was published on June 8, 2021, by Random House Children's Books. Meghan has also narrated the audiobook of the story. The book is illustrated by Christian Robinson; it features Robinson's first illustrations in watercolour. Background The genesis for the book came from a poem that Meghan wrote for her husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, for Father's Day. Meghan found inspiration for the book from the relationship that Harry has with their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. Synopsis The book is about the relationship between a father and his son told from the perspective of the mother. Christian Robinson
Christian Robinson (born August 2, 1986) is an American illustrator of children's books and an animator. He is based in Sacramento, California and has worked with The Sesame Street Workshop and Pixar Animation Studios. He graduated from the California Institute of the Arts. Personal life Robinson grew up in Los Angeles, California, raised by his grandmother in a one-bedroom home shared by six people. He began his career in animation until a mentor, Ben Butcher, inspired his shift toward children's books. He lived for seven years in San Francisco before relocating to Sacramento. Awards Robinson was awarded a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor and a Caldecott Honor for '' Last Stop on Market Street''.
