The Beaver Trilogy
''The Beaver Trilogy'' (2001) is a documentary film directed by Trent Harris, featuring Richard LaVon Griffiths (also known as "The Beaver Kid" and "Groovin' Gary"), Sean Penn, Crispin Glover and co-starring Courtney Gains and Elizabeth Daily. Description ''The Beaver Trilogy'' combines three separate vignettes that were filmed at different times, in 1979, 1981, and 1984. The first, titled ''The Beaver Kid'', is a short documentary about the exploits of "Groovin' Gary", a performer that filmmaker Harris happened upon while filming for a Salt Lake City, Utah news station. Trent Harris
Trent Harris (born 1952) is an independent filmmaker based in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2013, Indiewire proclaimed Harris "The Best Underground Filmmaker You Don’t Know — But Should." Harris’ films have played at dozens of festivals and museums worldwide with screenings at Sundance, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the British Film Institute in London, the Edinburgh Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art in Vienna Austria, Les Laboratories in Aubervilliers France, The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley. Career Harris taught film and screenwriting classes at the University of Utah and worked as a documentarian and television journalist. Tower Theatre (Salt Lake City, Utah)
The Tower Theatre, located in the 9th and 9th neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah, is a historic film theater operated by the Salt Lake Film Society. The theater (with the Broadway Centre Cinemas, also owned by the society) presents independent films. It also presents classic films on occasional weekends. The theater was built by Samuel Campbell in late 1927 and opened January 10, 1928. At a cost of $40,000 and boasted a $10,000 Kilgen Wonder Organ for its opening.
