''The Beatles Concerto'' is an instrumental musical medley of tunes from songs by The Beatles for two pianos and orchestra, arranged and composed by John Rutter within a classical "Piano Concerto Form". The LP A recording from 1979 engineered by Ron Goodwin included the interpretation and performance of concert-pianists Peter Rostal and Paul Schaefer as well as accompaniment from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. In music, a medley is a piece composed from parts of existing pieces played one after another, sometimes overlapping. They are common in popular music, and most medleys are songs rather than instrumentals. A medley which is a remixed series is called a megamix, often done with tracks for a single artist, or for popular songs from a given year or genre. A cover version combining elements of multiple pre-existing songs is a ''cover medley''. A medley is the most common form of overture for musical theatre productions. Hipgnosis were an English art design group based in London, that specialised in creating album cover artwork for rock musicians and bands. Their commissions included work for Pink Floyd, T. Rex, the Pretty Things, Black Sabbath, UFO, 10cc, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Scorpions, The Nice, Paul McCartney & Wings, the Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Electric Light Orchestra, Rainbow, Styx and Al Stewart.
