''The Beatles Ballads'' is a compilation album featuring a selection of ballad songs by the English rock band the Beatles. The album was not released in the United States, but in Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, South Korea and Australia. In Australia, the album was a big success, spending seven weeks at number one. It reached number 17 in the UK. The cover art by "Patrick" (John Byrne) had been created in 1968 as a possible cover for what would become ''The Beatles'' ("The White Album"). Its style and concept appears to support the White Album's original working title of ''A Doll's House''. The album was released in 1985 on LP and cassette under the EMI-ODEON label in Brazil using identical front and back cover art. It has never been officially released on compact disc. "Yesterday" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. It was first released on the album ''Help!'' in August 1965, except in the United States, where it was issued as a single in September. The song reached number one on the US charts. It subsequently appeared on the UK EP '' Yesterday'' in March 1966 and made its US album debut on '' Yesterday and Today'', in June 1966. McCartney's vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band. "All My Loving" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, from their second UK album ''With the Beatles'' (1963). It was written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney), and produced by George Martin. Though not officially released as a single in the United Kingdom or the United States, the song drew considerable radio airplay, prompting EMI to issue it as the title track of an EP. The song was released as a single in Canada, where it became a number one hit. The Canadian single was imported into the US in enough quantities to peak at number 45 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in April 1964. No One's Gonna Change Our World
''No One's Gonna Change Our World'' is a charity album released in the United Kingdom on 12 December 1969 for the benefit of the World Wildlife Fund. The compilation, assembled by comedian Spike Milligan, includes two tracks from Milligan and one from his ''Goon Show'' castmate Harry Secombe, and features liner notes by Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It is widely known by fans of the Beatles as the first release of the song " Across the Universe"; its title is adapted from one of the song's lyrics; "Nothing's gonna change my world". It was also the first release of the Hollies song "Wings", one of the last songs they recorded with Graham Nash in early 1968. The album was released on Regal Starline as catalogue number SRS 5013. "Across the Universe" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles. It was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The song first appeared on the 1969 various artists' charity compilation album ''No One's Gonna Change Our World'' and later, in a different form, on their 1970 album ''Let It Be (Beatles album), Let It Be'', the group's final released album. "Michelle" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1965 album '' Rubber Soul''. It was composed principally by Paul McCartney, with the middle eight co-written with John Lennon. The song is a love ballad with part of its lyrics sung in French. Following its inclusion on ''Rubber Soul'', the song was released as a single in some European countries and in New Zealand, and on an EP in France, in early 1966. It was a number 1 hit for the Beatles in Belgium, France, Norway, the Netherlands and New Zealand. "For No One" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1966 album ''Revolver''. It was written by Paul McCartney, and credited to Lennon–McCartney. A blend of baroque pop and chamber music, the song is about the end of a relationship, and was one of McCartney's most mature and poignant works upon its release. Mostly performed by the composer, the track is distinguished by its French horn solo, performed by Alan Civil and used as counterpoint in the final verse. Writing and recording McCartney recalls writing "For No One" in the bathroom of a ski resort in the Swiss Alps while on holiday with his then girlfriend Jane Asher. George Harrison
