In law, the bar is the legal profession as an institution. The term is a metonym for the line (or "bar") that separates the parts of a courtroom reserved for spectators and those reserved for participants in a trial such as lawyers. In the United Kingdom, the term "the Bar" refers only to the professional organisation for barristers (referred to in Scotland as advocates); the other type of UK lawyer, solicitors, have their own body, the Law Society. Correspondingly, being "called to the Bar" refers to admission to the profession of barristers, not solicitors. The Bar (franchise)
''The Bar'' (Swedish: ''Baren'') is a reality competition television franchise that originated in Sweden and then Norway in 2000, and was developed in other countries starting from 2001. The premise of the show is that for around two months, a number of contestants work in a bar while attempting to avoid periodic public-vote evictions from a communal house and hence win a cash prize. The show was devised by the Swedish company Strix. The show first aired on TV3 Sweden on 24 April 2000. Concept The aim of The Bar is for contestants to remain for as long as possible, with the power to decide who stays or goes in the hands of the viewers. The programme claims to illustrate what happens when strangers live together and attempt to run a city center bar. ''The Bar'' ( es, El bar, links=no) is a 2017 Black comedy film, black comedy thriller film directed, produced and co-written by Álex de la Iglesia. Set in Madrid, it has the ensemble cast typical of this director. It was screened out of competition at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. Plot In a cafe in Madrid; two random people are shot dead by an unknown sniper when they leave the bar. The streets are evacuated, and gradually, the rest of the people still alive in the bar come to realize someone in the group is the reason. It becomes clear that it is a government operation and they are covering up the killings under the guise of a fire. Everyone inside the cafe turns against each other. ''The Bar'' is a 1954 in art, 1954 painting by Australian artist John Brack. The subject of the painting directly references Édouard Manet's 1882 work ''A Bar at the Folies-Bergère''. It depicts a barmaid working in an pubs in Australia, Australian pub at the time of the "six o'clock swill". As in Manet's work, the patrons of the bar are shown in a reflection behind the barmaid. The work is considered a companion piece to Brack's 1955 work ''Collins St., 5 pm''. A Melbourne art collector acquired ''The Bar'' for 90 guinea (coin), guineas in 1954. In 2006, the painting sold for $3.12m, a then record price for an Australian artwork at auction. The anonymous buyer was later revealed to be David Walsh (art collector), David Walsh, owner of the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart. The Bar, originally simply known as Cesaro and Sheamus, was a professional wrestling tag team in WWE. They were record-setting four-time Raw Tag Team Champions and one-time SmackDown Tag Team Champions, making their team overall five-time champions in WWE. Holden Street Theatres (HST) is a South Australian performing arts theatre complex in Hindmarsh, an inner-western suburb of Adelaide.
