The Bachelor (American Season 1)
The Bachelor was the first season of ABC reality television series '' The Bachelor''. The show featured 31-year-old Alex Michel, a Harvard educated management consultant from Charlottesville, Virginia. The season premiered on March 25, 2002, and concluded on April 25, 2002 with Michel choosing to pursue a relationship with 23-year-old event planner Amanda Marsh. They broke up several months later. Alexander Mattheus Michel (born August 10, 1970) is an American businessman, producer, and television personality. He was '' The Bachelor'' during its premiere season on ABC in 2002. Personal life Michel was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, the son of a corporate executive and a marriage and family therapist. He has two younger sisters. At Darien High School, Michel was the valedictorian, student body president, homecoming king, and captain of the swim team. He graduated with honors from Harvard College, majoring in History and Literature, and was a member of the varsity swimming and water polo teams. During college, he spent a summer working as an analyst in the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President of the United States. The Bachelorette (season 1)
The Bachelorette was the first season of ABC reality television series ''The Bachelorette''. The season premiered on January 8, 2003, and featured 29-year-old Trista Rehn, a pediatric physical therapist and former Miami Heat dancer from Indiana. Rehn was the runner-up from the first season of '' The Bachelor'' featuring Alex Michel. The season concluded on February 19, 2003, with Rehn accepting a proposal from 28-year-old firefighter Ryan Sutter.
