The Awakening (TV Series)
The Awakening (Traditional Chinese: 霧鎖南洋, Simplified Chinese: 雾锁南洋) is a 1984 television drama series produced by Singapore Broadcasting Corporation to celebrate the nation's 25th National Day celebrations. The series mainly covers the Chinese Singaporean experience in Singapore, from the first generation of Chinese immigrants, who arrived to a relatively undeveloped island, through the Japanese occupation periods, and to the Chinese Singaporeans at the present day (1984), who resides in a developed nation that is radically different from the land their ancestors arrived to. Chen Tianwen (born 28 March 1963) is a Singaporean actor. Career Chen was educated at the now-defunct Serangoon Garden Secondary Technical School. He joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (now Mediacorp) after completing the 5th artiste drama training class and made his debut in 1984. Li Wenhai (, born ) is a veteran Singaporean actor. He has acted in various Singaporean television dramas. Career In 1981, Li joined Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC). In August 1991, after filming ''Jealousy Potion 100'', Li applied to have an early termination to his acting contract with SBC and to transfer to the voice dubbing department. After eight months, in April 1992, he resigned from SBC. After leaving SBC, Li opened a shop with friends selling Buddhist equipment at Balestier Shopping Center. The shop was eventually closed down in 1988 after the shop lease had finished and business was poor. Li was then invited by the producer and writer of ''Riding the Storm'' to act in the drama.
