The Atomic City
''The Atomic City'' is a 1952 thriller film directed by Jerry Hopper and starring Gene Barry and Lydia Clarke. The story takes place at Los Alamos, New Mexico, where a nuclear physicist (Barry) lives and works. Terrorists kidnap his son and demand that the physicist turn over the H-bomb formula. The film was nominated for an Academy Awards, Academy Award for Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, Best Writing (Story and Screenplay), Sydney Boehm being the nominee. Jerry Hopper
Harold Hankins Hopper (July 29, 1907 – December 17, 1988), known professionally as Jerry Hopper, was an American film and television director, active from the mid-1940s through the early 1970s. Early life Jerry Hopper was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Career He was an editor at Paramount Pictures before moving to the directors' chair for several installments of their Musical Parade series (1946–48). Milburn Stone
Hugh Milburn Stone (July 5, 1904 – June 12, 1980) was an American actor, best known for his role as "Doc" (Dr. Galen Adams) on the CBS Western series ''Gunsmoke''. Early life Stone was born in Burrton, Kansas, to Herbert Stone and the former Laura Belfield. Anthony Warde (born Benjamin Schwartz; January 1, 1909 – January 8, 1975) was a noted American actor who appeared in over 150 films between 1937 and 1964. Peter George Lynn (January 28, 1906 – December 3, 1967) was an American actor and writer. Early life Lynn was born January 28, 1906, in Cumberland, Maryland. He graduated from Washington and Lee University and worked as a pilot for Curtiss-Wright before he became an actor. Career Lynn acted in about 30 plays at the Pasadena Playhouse. He appeared in films such as ''Sinner Take All'' (1936), the MGM Academy Award nominated short ''Torture Money'' (1937), ''The Great Dictator'' (1940), and ''To Be or Not to Be'' (1942).
