The Atheist (comics)
''The Atheist'' is a horror comic book originally released in April 2005 and is published by Image Comics. Phil Hester, of ''The Wretch'' and Green Arrow, wrote ''The Atheist'', while Irish John McCrea of ''Hitman'' provided the black and white artwork. The storyline revolves around present day humans that are having their bodies being "possessed" by the souls from Hell similar to the possessions in the 1950s horror movie ''The Invasion of the Body Snatchers''. The souls from Hell then begin an extremely hedonistic and malicious lifestyle that includes raves, drugs, self-mutilation, murder, and other violence. The possessed bodies then start congregating in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Characters *Antoine Sharpe - The protagonist, who has the nickname The Atheist not for a lack of religious belief, but because Sharpe has an "uncompromising brand of logic". Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Phil Hester (comics)
Phil Hester (born 1966) is an American comic book artist, penciller and writer. Early life Phil Hester is an alumnus of the University of Iowa. He is originally from North English, Iowa. Career Hester's pencilling credits include ''Swamp Thing, Brave New World, Flinch, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Clerks: The Lost Scene, The Crow: Waking Nightmares, The Wretch'' (nominated for the 1997 Eisner Award for Best New Series), ''Aliens: Purge'', and ''Green Arrow''. During his run on ''Green Arrow'', he created the characters Mia Dearden and Onomatopoeia with writer Kevin Smith as well as Constantine Drakon with writer Judd Winick. Hester co-created ''Uncle Slam and Firedog'' with his ''Green Arrow'' collaborator, artist Ande Parks. He also created El Diablo, a new character (with a common name in DC Comics) who debuted in an eponymous limited series. His last comic 13 Steps will adapted in a Comedy Horror film. The Wretch
''The Wretch'' is a comic book created by Phil Hester and published by Slave Labor Graphics. The series focuses on the creepy town of Glass City and its residents who are protected by a strange entity known only as the Wretch. Weird things can always be found in Glass City, such as aliens, black magic, and even psychotic clowns. But the Wretch is always there to stop these things. The Wretch originally appeared in Joe Pruett's anthology title ''Negative Burn'', where he was called "The Creep." The Wretch then moved into his own four-issue series published by Caliber Comics, which was followed by a six-issue series published by Slave Labor Graphics. Green Arrow
Green Arrow is a superhero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Mort Weisinger and designed by George Papp, he first appeared in ''More Fun Comics'' #73 in November 1941. His secret identity, real name is Oliver Jonas Queen, a wealthy businessman and owner of Queen Consolidated who is also a well-known celebrity in Star City (comics), Star City. He uses this position to hide the fact that he is the Arrow. Sometimes shown dressed like the character Robin Hood, Green Arrow is an archery, archer who uses his skills to fight crime in his home cities of Star City and Seattle, as well as alongside his fellow superheroes as a member of the Justice League.
