The Annual 2005
The Annual is a series of compilation albums currently published annually by London-based electronic dance music brand Ministry of Sound. Described as Ministry of Sound's "flagship" series, the popular albums feature house, big beat and trance tracks popular in nightclubs, especially those in the United Kingdom. History The Ministry of Sound had been releasing DJ mix albums since 1993, their third year of business as a nightclub, starting with the inaugural edition of the '' Session'', mixed by Tony Humphries. As the label increasingly began to release other mix albums, ''The Annual'' was conceived to wrap up the year at the club, a retrospective of defining tracks that defined the nightclub that year. Boy George and Pete Tong, who had DJ'd at the club several times, were hired to compile and mix a disc for the album each. The album was a success, reaching number 13 on the UK Compilations Chart. Sessions (compilation Series)
''Sessions'' is a series of DJ mix albums, each album normally by a different DJ who also compiles the tracks, released by the London-based electronic dance music label Ministry of Sound. Alongside '' The Annual'', it is one of Ministry of Sound's better-known compilation album series. History The Ministry of Sound record label began in 1993, and the first release on it was ''The Sessions Volume One'', a 12-track mix compiled and mixed by Tony Humphries. It was critically acclaimed and more ''Sessions'' were released to critical acclaim and even charted higher in the UK Compilation Chart. ''Sessions 5'', by Masters at Work, was the first double album in the series and every volume since has either been a double or triple album. ''Live & Remastered'' (subtitled ''20th Anniversary Box Set'') is a box set released by the record label of British nightclub Ministry of Sound in September 2011. It was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ministry of Sound, as part of their ''20:20 Project'' campaign, following the Ministry of Sound's foundation in 1991. Focusing on the early years of the club, the box set contains five discs, each an iconic DJ set performed live at the Ministry of Sound from 1991 to 1994. The DJ sets are mixed by New York DJ veterans Larry Levan, David Morales, Todd Terry, Kenny Carpenter and the club's British co-founder Justin Berkmann, each delivering their own house style. Between them, genres explored include deep house and garage house.
