Sarah Brightman
Sarah Brightman (born 14 August 1960) is an English classical crossover soprano singer, actress and dancer. Brightman began her career as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and released several disco singles as a solo performer. In 1981, she made her West End musical theatre debut in ''Cats'' and met composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom she later married. She went on to star in several West End and Broadway musicals, including ''The Phantom of the Opera'', where she originated the role of Christine Daaé. Her original London cast album of ''Phantom'' was released in CD format in 1987 and sold 40 million copies worldwide, making it the biggest-selling cast album ever. Paul Miles-Kingston (born 8 April 1972, in London, England), is a British singer who achieved fame as a boy soprano classical singer. Childhood and singing career In 1982, Paul Miles-Kingston won a choral scholarship into Winchester Cathedral Choir. While a chorister, he sang many solos in services, broadcasts and oratorios; he toured Western Canada with the choir in 1983, and sang with them at the BBC Proms. He won several prizes as a chorister for his outstanding solo singing and also for his musical contribution at The Pilgrims' School (the Winchester Cathedral Choir School). "Pie Jesu" ( ; original Latin: "Pie Iesu" ) is a text from the final couplet of the hymn " Dies irae", and is often included in musical settings of the Requiem Mass as a motet. The phrase means " pious Jesus" in the vocative. Popular settings The settings of the Requiem Mass by Luigi Cherubini, Antonin Dvořák, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, John Rutter, Karl Jenkins, Kim André Arnesen and Fredrik Sixten include a "Pie Jesu" as an independent movement.
