The Almost
The Almost is an American rock band from Clearwater, Florida, fronted by Underoath drummer and vocalist Aaron Gillespie. Formed in 2005 as a solo project by Gillespie, the band currently includes guitarist Jay Vilardi, bassist Jon Thompson, and drummer JJ Revell. They released three albums via Tooth & Nail Records: their debut ''Southern Weather'' (2007), ''Monster Monster'' (2009), and '' Fear Inside Our Bones'' (2013). Following a hiatus in 2015, Gillespie revived the project and released a fourth album, ''Fear Caller'', in 2019 through Fearless Records. ''Southern Weather'' is the debut album by Underoath drummer Aaron Gillespie's solo-project, the Almost. Background and production In October 2005, Gillespie was in New York City and had the urge to do some straight-forward rock songs. After telling his manager, he was put in a studio where he started working on material. That evening, he received the songs from the studio and posted two demos ("I Mostly Copy Other People" and "Never Say "I Told You So"") on his Myspace profile. Gillespie was recording with Underoath (for ''Define the Great Line'') at the time and, as their drummer and co-vocalist, was in a several week period between tracking drums and doing the vocals. To keep himself productive during this lull, he wrote a bunch of songs that differed from the band's sound and fit a more alternative rock vein. Army Of Me (band)
Army of Me is a band formed in Washington, D.C. History Vocalist and guitarist Vince Scheuerman grew up in a Gaithersburg, Maryland religious community. Feeling frustrated with mainstream culture, he turned to music as an outlet. Scheuerman and long-time friend John Hutchins, bass, joined a ska band, Sidewinders SC, but quit to start their own project. The pair formed Cactus Patch in 2001 with drummer Dennis Manuel. Under the name Cactus Patch, they self-released 3 EPs on CD-Rs and one self-titled album. They changed their name to ''Army of Me'' not long after winning the WHFS Big Break contest which granted them an opening slot at the 2001 HFStival. The band's reputation in the Washington, DC area grew through street team promotion, active touring and multiple years playing the street stage at the HFStival. Emery (band)
Emery is an American post-hardcore band formed in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 2001 by Toby Morrell, Devin Shelton, Matt Carter, Josh Head, Joel Green, and Seth Studley. The band relocated to Seattle in order to reach a more music-centered scene. Before signing with Tooth & Nail Records, Emery recorded two EPs, ''The Columbus EEP Thee'' and ''The Weak's End'' demo that they used to attract attention from labels. Set Your Goals is an American punk rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 2004. Their band name is derived from the CIV album of the same name. The band consists of vocalists Jordan Brown and Matt Wilson, drummer Mike Ambrose, guitarists Audelio Flores Jr and Daniel Coddaire and bassist Joe Saucedo. History Formation and first releases (2004–08) Forming in 2004, Set Your Goals released their first self-titled EP through Straight on Records in May 2004. Paramore
Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro. Williams and Farro are founding members of the group, while York, a high school friend of the original lineup, joined in 2007. The band is signed to Fueled by Ramen, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, both owned by Warner Music Group. Williams was separately signed to Atlantic as she was scouted when she was a teenager, and they were the only label to let her stay in the band instead of going solo, but Atlantic said the rest of the band had to sign to Fueled by Ramen. She is also the only member to appear on all five of Paramore's studio albums. ''Define the Great Line'' is the fifth album by American rock band Underoath. It was released on June 20, 2006, through Tooth & Nail Records. Five months after the release of their fourth studio album ''They're Only Chasing Safety'', the band were already in the process of working towards its follow-up. Recording took place between January and March 2006 at Zing Recording Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts, and Glow in the Dark Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, with Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage, Matt Goldman and the band as producers. ''Define the Great Line'' is predominantly a metalcore and emo album, which has also been tagged as Christian metal, post-metal and post-hardcore. Kenneth Robert "Kenny" Vasoli is an American singer and musician from Pennsylvania. Vasoli is currently the lead singer and songwriter of The Starting Line, Person L, and Vacationer. Biography Kenneth "Kenny" Robert Vasoli was born May 20, 1984 in Abington, Pennsylvania, and attended Hatboro-Horsham High School. At the age of 14, Vasoli was invited to join the pop punk band The Starting Line after Matt Watts read his AOL Messenger profile. Vasoli finished high school early at the age of 17 to concentrate on music, and was 18 years old upon release of The Starting Line's debut album ''Say It Like You Mean It'' in 2002. The Starting Line is an American pop punk band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that formed in 1999. History Early years (1999–2001) In 1999, the band that would become The Starting Line was initiated in Churchville, Pennsylvania via an e-mail from guitarist Matthew "Matt" K. Watts to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli. It asked if the 14-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in "Jamming and shit", as the message title read. A demo (shortened from "demonstration") is a song or group of songs typically recorded for limited circulation or for reference use, rather than for general public release.
