Ararat Advertiser
The ''Ararat Advertiser ''is a newspaper published in Ararat, Victoria, Australia. It is one of the oldest continuously operating newspapers in Victoria, second in age only to the ''Geelong Advertiser''. The paper is now published by Fairfax Media. History With the Liverpool printing industry facing periodic unemployment and worsening industrial conditions, formally trained printers and stationers Jabez Walter Banfield and James Gearing emigrated to Australia in search of gold. Arriving on 10 October 1852, they followed the Victorian gold rush to Melbourne, where they went into partnership with Edward Holt Nuthall, a printer recently arrived from India. In May 1855 the trio returned to the central goldfields to invest in a printing plant in Maryborough. Between 1855 and 1864 Banfield and Gearing were associated with newspaper or printing offices in thirteen towns. Grand Falls-Windsor is a town located in the central region of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with a population of 13,853 at the 2021 census. The ''Glossop Advertiser'' is a weekly newspaper which serves the town of Glossop, Derbyshire, England. It is owned by Trinity Mirror plc. The paper's sister paper, The Tameside Advertiser which is also a freesheet but covers the neighbouring Metropolitan Borough of Tameside in Greater Manchester. The main competitors to both papers are the Tameside Reporter and Glossop Chronicle which are both paid-for newspapers. The Glossop Advertiser is essentially a localised version of the Tameside Advertiser with some news stories specific to the area, but much of the content is generalised between the two newspapers. The ''Surrey Advertiser'' is a newspaper for Surrey, England which was established in 1864 and gradually evolved into the Surrey Advertiser Group of seven more localised titles. Guardian Media Group sold the Group to Trinity Mirror in 2010. The owners are now known as Reach plc. The head office is in Stoke Mill, Guildford. __NOTOC__ The ''Evelyn Observer'' was a weekly newspaper released from 1873 to 1942 in the north-east area of Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. It was first published on 31 October 1873 from a school house at Kangaroo Ground. Andrew Ross, the district's first school master and hotel-keeper was the ''Observers first proprietor, and he enlisted the help of a printer, John Rossiter, who became the first editor. It then operated out of a dedicated building on the top of a hill. After the transfer of the newspaper office to Hurstbridge, the building was purchased by the Eltham Shire Council.
