All City (rap Group)
All City was an American rap duo composed of Brooklyn-based rappers J. Mega and Greg Valentine. The duo was formed in 1993 and achieved wide popularity in 1998 with the release of the debut album, '' Metropolis Gold'', on the MCA Records. History All City was formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1993. Both group members, rapper J. Mega and rapper/singer Greg Valentine performed as a solo artists at Lyricist Lounge on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York. After receiving a positive reaction from the fans, they decided to create their own group. The name of the duet comes from the graffiti-term "All City", this is how graffiti artists mark trains going through the whole New York. ''Metropolis Gold'' is the only album by Brooklyn hip hop duo All City, released on November 3, 1998 by MCA Records. The album featured an all-star production lineup, including many prominent New York City producers such as DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Rockwilder, Fredro Starr, DJ Clark Kent, Hitmen member Ron "Amen-Ra" Lawrence, and EZ Elpee. It features guest appearances from rappers Native Souls and Onyx, which served as executive producers on the album. ''Metropolis Gold'' peaked at #42 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums and #18 on the Top Heatseekers. The album features two the '' Billboard'' singles: "The Actual" and "The Hot Joint". MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. Christopher Edward Martin (born March 21, 1966), known professionally as DJ Premier (also known as Preemo), is an American record producer and DJ. He is considered one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time. He was half of the hip hop duo Gang Starr—alongside the rapper Guru (rapper), Guru—and presently forms half of the hip hop duo PRhyme, together with Royce da 5'9".
