BBC Radio 4 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC that replaced the BBC Home Service in 1967. It broadcasts a wide variety of spoken-word programmes, including news, drama, comedy, science and history from the BBC's headquarters at Broadcasting House, London. Jack Douglas (actor)
John Douglas Roberton (26 April 1927 – 18 December 2008) was an England, English actor best known for his portrayals in the Carry On (franchise), ''Carry On'' films. Early life Douglas was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, into a theatrical family; his father was a theatre producer and his brother, Bill Roberton, became a theatre director. His mother was so keen that he be a Geordie that, according to Douglas, although they had settled in London, He spent his early years on a farm in Meriden, West Midlands, Meriden. The family later moved to Blackpool to get away from the bombing in the World War II, Second World War. Elizabeth Joan Winch (14 August 1930 – 6 September 2018), known professionally as Liz Fraser, was a British film actress, best known for being cast in provocative comedy roles. Early life Fraser was born in Southwark, London. Her year of birth was usually cited as 1933, which she gave when auditioning for her role in ''I'm All Right Jack'', because the Boulting Brothers wanted someone younger for the part. Charles Collingwood (actor)
Charles Henry Collingwood (born 30 May 1943) is a Canadian-born British actor. Biography Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, and educated at Sherborne School in Dorset, England, he trained at RADA. He is best known for playing the role of Brian Aldridge in the long-running BBC Radio 4 soap opera ''The Archers'' since March 1975. He is married to Judy Bennett who plays Shula Hebden Lloyd in the series. Collingwood credits the television producer and director Dorothea Brooking as giving him his break in the medium. Dudley Sutton
Dudley Sutton (6 April 1933 – 15 September 2018) was an English actor. Active in radio, stage, film and television, he was arguably best known for his role of Tinker Dill in the BBC Television drama series ''Lovejoy''. Early life Sutton was born in Kingston upon Thames, and educated at a boys' boarding school at Lifton Park, Devon. He served in the Royal Air Force as a mechanic before enrolling in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, from which he was later expelled for responding to rock-and-roll. Career After early stage work with Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop, Sutton became known for his unusual roles in two films directed by Sidney J. Furie. Andreas Siegfried Sachs (7 April 1930 – 23 November 2016), known professionally as Andrew Sachs, was a German-born British actor and writer.
