Tharaka Constituency
Tharaka Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of three constituencies in Tharaka-Nithi County. The constituency was established prior to the 1988 elections. Constituencies Of Kenya
Constituencies of Kenya are used to elect members of the National Assembly, the lower chamber of the Kenyan Parliament. In accordance with article 89 of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, there are 290 constituencies, based on a formula where these constituencies were to be delineated based on population numbers. Each constituency returns one MP. In the following lists, the population of each of the 47 counties is given as enumerated in the census of 24 August 2009. 2017 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 8 August 2017 to elect the President, members of the National Assembly and Senate. They coincided with the 2017 Kenyan local elections which elected Governors and representatives in the devolved governments. The published results showed that incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Jubilee Party had been re-elected with 54% of the vote. However, his main opponent, Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Movement, refused to accept the results and contested them in the Supreme Court. The results of the presidential election were subsequently annulled by the court and fresh presidential elections was ordered to be held within 60 days. It was later announced that the elections would be held in October. The results of the parliamentary and local elections remained valid. The Jubilee Party retained its majority in the Senate, winning 34 of the 67 seats, and remained the largest party in the National Assembly with 171 of the 341 seats. The Oran ... Nkondi
Nkondi (plural varies ''minkondi'', ''zinkondi'', or ''ninkondi'') are mystical statuettes made by the Kongo people of the Congo Basin, Congo region. Nkondi are a subclass of Nkisi, minkisi that are considered aggressive. The name nkondi derives from the verb ''-konda'', meaning "to hunt" and thus nkondi means "hunter" because they can hunt down and attack wrong-doers, witches, or enemies. Functions The primary function of a nkondi is to be the home of a spirit which can travel out from its base, hunt down and harm other people. Many nkondi were publicly held and were used to affirm oaths, or to protect villages and other locations from witches or evildoers. This is achieved by enlisting spiritual power through getting them to inhabit minkisi like nkondi. The vocabulary of nkondi has connections with Kongo conceptions of witchcraft which are anchored in the belief that it is possible for humans to enroll spiritual forces to inflict harm on others through cursing them or causing ... Marimanti
Marimanti is a small market town in Tharaka South subcounty, of Tharaka-Nithi County, Kenya. The intermittent stream, Kararu, flows past the town. Its market is the second largest in the county after that in Chuka. History From 1998 to 2009, Marimanti (Tharaka) was the administrative headquarters of Tharaka District Tharaka-Nithi County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya located in Kenya's former Eastern Province.
