Charles-François Thaon, Count Of Saint-André
Charles-François Thaon de Revel et de Saint-André (28 February 1725 – 14 December 1807) was an army commander for the Kingdom of Sardinia during the War of the First Coalition. He fought in the War of the Austrian Succession and during the years of peace gained promotion until he was made major general in 1780. He was forced to abandon Nice to the invading Republican French army in 1792. The following year he defeated the French at Saorgio. He played a minor part in 1799 during the War of the Second Coalition. Paolo Ignazio Maria Thaon Di Revel
Paolo Ignazio Maria Thaon di Revel (2 May 1888 – 1 June 1973) was an Italian politician and fencer. He was the son of Count Vittorio Thaon di Revel and Elfrida Maria Atkinson. He fought in the First World War. He was also Mayor of Torino (1929–35) and Italian Minister of Finance (1935–43) in the Mussolini Cabinet. After the war, he was president of the organising committee of the 1956 Winter Olympics at Cortina d'Ampezzo. Paolo Thaon Di Revel
Paolo Camillo Thaon, Marquess of Revel (10 June 1859 – 24 March 1948), latterly titled with the honorary title of 1st Duke of the Sea, was an Italian admiral of the ''Regia Marina'' during World War I and later a politician. Early life and career Thaon di Revel was born in Turin from a family of the Savoyard and Niçard nobility of Scottish descent, a minor son of Marquess and Count Ottavio Thaon di Revel. He took part as Rear-admiral in the Italo-Turkish War, commanding Italian cruisers in the Battle of Beirut. He was named Chief of Staff of the Regia Marina in 1913; he supported the signing of a naval convention between the nations of the Triple Alliance, knowing of Italy's vulnerability to seaborne threats and its dependence on its sealanes, which was concluded on October of that year. When World War I broke out, he warned the government of Antonio Salandra that chances of Austro-Italian success against the combined force of the French and British fleets was small ...

''Paolo Thaon di Revel'' (P430) is the lead ship of ''Paolo Thaon di Revel''-class offshore patrol vessel. Development and design The ships were designed as a "multipurpose offshore patrol vessel". The first seven vessels are built with different configurations: a basic "light" variant for the patrol task, an enhanced configuration with better self-defence capacity and a "full" variant incorporating a much broader capability. ''Paolo Thaon di Revel'', as the lead ship of the class, is built in the "light" configuration. The Italian Navy ordered the new MBDA TESEO MK/2E heavy-duty missile (TESEO "EVO"), a long-range anti-ship missile with also strategic land attack capability.
