Thanasis Theocharopoulos
Thanassis Theocharopoulos (born 5 November 1978, Veria) is an agricultural economist, Greek politician and chairman of the Democratic Left (DIMAR). In 2019 he served as Tourism Minister for Syriza. Early life Thanasis Theocharopoulos was born on 5 November 1978 in Veria. He is an agronomist, doctor of agricultural economics. He has also participated in several European Commission research projects, and has written articles in scientific journals, conferences and scientific books. He is married to Frida Gazarou, with whom he has two children. Political career In the May 2012 legislative election DIMAR received 386,116 votes (6.1%) and elected 19 MPs in the Greek Parliament, making it the seventh biggest party in the Hellenic Parliament. New Democracy (Greece)
New Democracy (ND; el, Νέα Δημοκρατία, Néa Dimokratía, ) is a liberal-conservative political party in Greece. In contemporary Greek politics, New Democracy has been the main centre-right political party and one of the two major parties along with its historic rival, the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). New Democracy and PASOK were created in the wake of the toppling of the military junta in 1974, and ruled Greece alternately for the next four decades. Legislative elections were held in Greece on Sunday, 20 September 2015, following Prime Minister of Greece, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' announced resignation on 20 August. The Panhellenic Socialist Movement ( el, Πανελλήνιο Σοσιαλιστικό Κίνημα, Panellínio Sosialistikó Kínima, ), known mostly by its acronym PASOK, (; , ) is a social-democratic political party in Greece. The Cabinet of Antonis Samaras succeeded the Caretaker Cabinet of Panagiotis Pikrammenos after the repeated legislative elections in May and June 2012. It was sworn in on Thursday, 21 June 2012.
