Thanadsri Svasti
Mom Rajawongse Thanadsri Svasti ( th, หม่อมราชวงศ์ถนัดศรี สวัสดิวัตน์, , 28 May 1927 – 27 August 2019) was a Thai writer, singer, broadcaster and actor, best known as a culinary expert and for his food writing, especially the "Shell Chuan Chim" () food guide. Thanadsri grew up in the royal Sa Pathum Palace, and was attending university when World War II disrupted his studies and led him to join the renowned Suntaraporn band. As a singer, he recorded over 200 songs. He had a brief television acting career, before becoming known as a food columnist—"Shell Chuan Chim" was extremely influential and propelled the businesses of many restaurants—and a radio and television presenter. In recognition of his musical career, he was named a National Artist (Thailand), National Artist in performing arts in 2008. MCOT HD (in Thailand called Channel 9 MCOT HD th, ช่อง 9 เอ็มคอตเอชดี) is a Thai free-to-air television network launched on 24 June 1955 and owned by MCOT. History The channel was originally launched as Channel 4 Bang Khun Phrom (ช่อง 4 บางขุนพรหม) with test transmissions beginning on 6 September 1954 and beginning formal broadcasts on 24 June 1955. Eua Suntornsanan ( th, เอื้อ สุนทรสนาน; ; January 21, 1910, Amphawa, Samut Songkhram Province – April 1, 1981) was a singer, Thai composer and bandleader of Suntaraporn band. He was a pioneer in introducing Western music into Thai culture. He started the trend of international style Thai music, or Phleng Thai Sakon. He composed over 2,000 songs that have been popular until today, for example, Rumwong Loy Kratong, many Songkran and New Year songs, and other Thai traditional songs. In 1975, he was given an insignia by the king. In 1981 he died of cancer. In 2007, the Ministry of Culture of Thailand nominated Kru Eua for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO) to honor Kru Eua Suntornsanan as Personality of the Year on the list of Anniversary of World Personalities and Historic Events 2010-2011, which was granted in 2010. Thailand officially adopted a neutral position during World War II until the five hour-long Japanese invasion of Thailand on 8 December 1941, which led to an armistice and military alliance treaty between Thailand and the Japanese Empire in mid-December 1941. At the start of the Pacific War, the Japanese Empire pressured the Thai government to allow the passage of Japanese troops to invade British-held Malaya and Burma. Rajini School ( th, โรงเรียนราชินี, , lit. "Queen's School") is a private girls' school in Thailand, and one of the oldest in the country. It was founded in 1904 by Queen Saovabha Phongsri as a replacement for the recently closed Sunanthalai School, which she had previously also sponsored.
