Thamesmead Railway Station
The Docklands Light Railway extension to Thamesmead is a proposed Docklands Light Railway (DLR) extension to serve the Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead redevelopment areas of East London. Mooted in the late 2010s, the extension was first formally proposed by Transport for London (TfL) as part of the Thamesmead and Abbey Wood Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF), with proposed stations at 'Beckton Riverside' and 'Thamesmead Central'. Light Metro
A medium-capacity system (MCS), also known as light rapid transit or light metro, is a rail transport system with a capacity greater than light rail, but less than typical heavy-rail rapid transit. MCS’s trains are usually 1-4 cars, or 1 light rail vehicle (LRV). Most medium-capacity rail systems are automated or use light rail type vehicles. Light rail is considered high capacity as trains use 2-4 LRVs. Since ridership determines the scale of a rapid transit system, statistical modeling allows planners to size the rail system for the needs of the area. North Greenwich Tube Station
North Greenwich is a London Underground station served by the Jubilee line. Despite its name, it is not in the local area historically known as North Greenwich, on the Isle of Dogs, north of the River Thames; a completely different North Greenwich station used to be there, from 1872 until 1926. Belvedere Crossing
The Belvedere Crossing was a proposed River Thames crossing in East and South East London, running between Rainham in the London Borough of Havering and Belvedere in the London Borough of Bexley. Plans for the crossing, as well as the Gallions Reach Crossing further upstream, were dropped when Sadiq Khan became Mayor of London in 2016. Design Each crossing was expected to consist of two lanes in each direction – one for public transport and one for general traffic. A charge was proposed for vehicles to use the crossings to manage demand and help pay for the scheme. Any pedestrian and cyclist facilities would be segregated from traffic. Gallions Reach Crossing
The Gallions Reach Crossing is a proposed River Thames crossing close to Gallions Reach in East London, running between Beckton in the London Borough of Newham and Thamesmead in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Originally a proposed ferry crossing replacing the Woolwich Ferry, later plans suggested either a bridge or a tunnel. It is being developed in conjunction with the Belvedere Crossing, just downriver. History The crossing was announced as a ferry route by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, in 2012 following the cancellation of the Thames Gateway Bridge, with a proposed operation date of 2017. Silvertown Tunnel
The Silvertown Tunnel is a road tunnel under construction beneath the River Thames between the Greenwich Peninsula and west Silvertown. It is being promoted by Transport for London and will be delivered through a design, build, finance and maintain contract by the Riverlinx consortium. The tunnel is intended to reduce congestion through the Blackwall Tunnel and both tunnels will be tolled when it opens in 2025. The contract for construction was awarded in November 2019. The tunnel will include dedicated lanes for heavy goods vehicles and buses, but it will not be accessible to walkers or cyclists. All future bus routes that will use the tunnel will be zero emission. The Docklands Light Railway extension to Dagenham Dock was a proposed extension of the Docklands Light Railway to Dagenham Dock in East London, to serve the Barking Riverside development and the wider Thames Gateway area.
