London, Tilbury And Southend Line
The London, Tilbury and Southend line, also known as Essex Thameside, is a commuter railway line on the British railway system. It connects Fenchurch Street station, in central London, with destinations in east London and Essex, including , , , , Tilbury, Southend and . Its main users are commuters travelling to and from London, particularly the City of London which is served by Fenchurch Street, and areas in east London including the Docklands financial district via London Underground and Docklands Light Railway connections at and . The line is also heavily used by leisure travellers, as it and its branches serve a number of seaside resorts, shopping areas and countryside destinations. Additionally, the Tilbury Loop portion of the route provides an artery for freight traffic to and from Dagenham Dock and the Tilbury and London Gateway ports. Thameside (bus Company)
Thameside is a bus company operating in East London. It is a subsidiary brand of Stagecoach London and operates services under contract to Transport for London. The brand is not publicly used since 2010 as all buses are branded as Stagecoach, but it exists as a legal entity. Thameside shares its headquarters with sister company East London at West Ham. History Thameside was set up to operate route 248 from 27 September 2008. In March 2009 route 372 was transferred followed in July 2009 by route 174. In March 2011, route 287 was transferred from Barking (BK) Garage to this garage upon contract renewal. On 28th September 2013 route 165, route 252, route 256 and route 365 commenced operations after they were won from First London (except 256 Which was previously run by Arriva). route 103 was transferred from Romford (NS) on 27th June 2015. Thameside (HM Prison)
HM Prison Thameside is a Category B men's private prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, south-east London, England. Thameside Prison is operated by Serco and is situated next to Belmarsh and Isis prisons. History The prison was designed and constructed by Serco and opened on 30 March 2012, becoming fully operational in Autumn 2012, with a capacity of 900. It holds prisoners from courts previously served by Brixton Prison and other prisons in London. In January 2013, the Ministry of Justice announced that an additional houseblock would be constructed at Thameside Prison, increasing its capacity. Thameside Radio
Thameside Radio was an unlicensed radio station based in London. It launched in the winter of 1977, offering "very slick pop rock with competitions", according to '' Time Out''. According to the ''Richmond and Twickenham Times'', it broadcast from "a certain Notting Hill tower block" – a reference to Trellick Tower. The station received 30-40 letters each week and had an estimated listenership of around 20,000. It pioneered new music, and is noted by the '' New Musical Express'' for giving airplay to "Win a Night Out with a Well-Known Paranoiac" by Barry Andrews, which was subsequently picked up by BBC Radio 1. Increasing numbers of raids resulted in the station losing five transmitters in six months and the station ceased live transmission, instead taping its shows shortly before broadcast. Thameside Series
The Thameside Series are two canoe and kayak races organised by Reading Canoe Club, that coincide with the Waterside Series races, organised by Newbury Canoe Club. The two races are Thameside 1 (a 12-mile race from Aldermaston, Berkshire to Reading), and Thameside 2 (a 19-mile race starting at Reading and ending in Marlow, Buckinghamshire). Thameside 1 Starting from Aldermaston Bridge, Thameside 1 is a 12-mile, 13 portage time trial down the Kennet & Avon Canal, through Reading town centre and out onto the River Thames. A left turn where the mouth of the Kennet meets the Thames takes competitors upstream and over Caversham Lock, finishing upstream of Caversham Bridge at Reading Canoe Club on the right hand bank. Thameside 2 This is a 19-mile, 8 portage downstream race with mass class starts, starting in Reading and finishing at Marlow. The finish was historically at the Longridge Activity Centre, Quarry Wood Road, Marlow, until 2022. A new finish location has yet to be announced. ...
