Thalu
''Thalu'' is an Australian children's fantasy television series which was screened 2020 on ABC Me. The ten-part series focuses on a group of indigenous children who undertake a journey to save their country from the threat of a mysterious dust cloud and its inhabitants, the Takers. Production The series is filmed in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and the cast are from Roebourne. Each character has been written with input from the young cast member to reflect their personality, sense of humour and culture. The series was directed by Tyson Mowarin. Fantasy
Fantasy is a genre of speculative fiction involving Magic (supernatural), magical elements, typically set in a fictional universe and sometimes inspired by mythology and folklore. ABC Me
ABC Me (stylised as ABC ME) is an Australian English language children's free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It was officially launched by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on 4 December 2009 as ABC3. History In September 2009, the Australian government announced a proposal to launch a new digital-only children's channel, ABC3. A new ABC channel appeared on television receivers in 2008, as a placeholder for the future ABC3 channel. ABC3 was considered by the Australia 2020 Summit and given as one of the recommendations to the Government. The Pilbara () is a large, dry, thinly populated region in the north of Western Australia. Roebourne is a town in Western Australia's Pilbara region. In Ngarluma language, Roebourne is called Yirramagardu (Ieramagadu). Elaine Crombie is an Aboriginal Australian actress, known for her work on stage and television. She is also a singer, songwriter, comedian, writer and producer. Early life and education Crombie is a Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara woman from South Australia. She and her brother were brought up by her mother's foster parents in Port Pirie, the Turners, after being given up at the age of six weeks by her mother, actor Lillian Crombie, who went to Sydney "to follow her dreams" in the performing arts. Trisha Morton-Thomas, also known as Patricia Morton-Thomas, is an Anmatyerr woman born in the Northern Territory of Australia. She is a writer, producer, director and actor who has worked in the Australian film industry since 1998 when she appeared in ''Radiance'', the first feature film by director Rachel Perkins. Career Morton-Thomas grew up in Alice Springs and the remote Northern Territory.
