Thakurgaon Sadar ( bn, ঠাকুরগাঁও সদর) is an upazila of Thakurgaon District in the Division of Rangpur, Bangladesh. Geography Thakurgaon Sadar is located at . It has 79823 households and total area 683.46 km2. Demographics As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Thakurgaon Sadar has a population of 422728. Males constitute 51.7% of the population, and females 48.3%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 214112. Thakurgaon Sadar has an average literacy rate of 30.1% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. Administration Thakurgaon Upazila is divided into Thakurgaon Municipality and 19 union parishads: Akhanagar, Akcha, Auliapur, Balia, Baragaon, Begunbari, Chilarang, Debipur, Gareya, Jagannathpur, Jamalpur, Mohammadpur, Nargun, Rahimanpur, Rajagaon, Ruhea, Roypur, Salandar, and Sukhanpukhari. Rangpur Division
Rangpur Division ( bn, রংপুর বিভাগ) is one of the Divisions in Bangladesh. It was formed on 25 January 2010, as Bangladesh's 7th division. Before that, it was under Rajshahi Division. The Rangpur division consists of eight districts. There are 58 Upazilas or subdistricts under these eight districts. Rangpur is the northernmost division of Bangladesh and has a population of 15,665,000 in the 2011 Census. The major cities of this new division are Rangpur, Saidpur and Dinajpur. Thakurgaon ( bn, ঠাকুরগাঁও জেলা, ''Thakurgaon Jela'' also ''Thakurgaon Zila'') is a district in the north-western side of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Rangpur Division and borders India to the west. It was established as a mahakuma in 1860 consisting of 6 thanas named Thakurgaon sadar, Baliadangi, Pirganj, Ranishankail, Haripur and Ruhia. In 1947, it was re-established as a mahakuma including 3 thanas of Jalpaiguri and a thana of kochbihar of India. In 1981, Atoari was included in the new Panchagarh district and the area was shrunk in just 5 thanas. It was then established as a district on 1 February 1984. Asiatic Society Of Bangladesh
The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. 1991 Bangladesh Census
In 1991, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh. They recorded data from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. According to the census, Hindus were 10.5 per cent of the population, down from 12.1 per cent as of 1981. Bangladesh have a population of 106,314,992 as per 1991 census report. Majority of 93,886,769 reported that they were Muslims, 11,184,337 reported as Hindus, 616,626 as Buddhists, 350,839 as Christians and 276,418 as others.
