Texas State Highway 365
State Highway 365 (SH 365) is a future toll road that is under construction in Mission, Texas. The route will run from FM 1016 to US 281 and will provide an alternate route for heavy commercial vehicles. The highway is expected to become of the proposed Hidalgo County Loop. Route description SH 365 is planned to begin at an intersection with FM 1016. From there, it will head east and south to US 281. History SH 365 was designated on February 24, 1988, as a route from SH 361 in Ingleside to SH 35 at Aransas Pass. On October 13, 1988, the route was cancelled and became an extension of SH 363. SH 365 was designated on April 29, 2010, but only from FM 1016 to FM 3072. On July 26, 2012, SH 365 was extended south to US 281, completing the proposed routing. Mission is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. Its population was 77,058 at the 2010 census and an estimated 84,331 in 2019. Mission is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. Geography Mission is in southern Hidalgo County. It is bordered to the east by McAllen, the largest city in the county, to the north by Palmhurst, to the west by Palmview, and to the south by the Mexico–United States border along the Rio Grande. The Interstate 2/U.S. Route 83 freeway passes through Mission, south of the center of town. The highway leads east to downtown McAllen and to Harlingen. State Highway 361 (SH 361) is a state highway in San Patricio and Nueces counties that runs from Gregory in southern Texas, near Corpus Christi, east and south to Padre Island on the Gulf of Mexico coast. History The highway was first designated on April 4, 1956 as the portion of the route from Aransas Pass to Port Aransas, and a 0.7 mile extension in Port Aransas to PR 53 was added to the designation on November 28, 1967. On January 31, 1969 FM 632 from Gregory to Aransas Pass was added to the SH 361 designation. Aransas Pass ( ) is a city in Aransas, Nueces, and San Patricio Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 7,941 at the 2020 Census. Geography Aransas Pass is located at (27.9019, –97.1395),F on the shore of Redfish Bay, a tidal water body between Corpus Christi Bay to the south and Aransas Bay to the north. SH 1 State Highway 1 ran from El Paso through Dallas to Texarkana. It was the first highway designated in 1917. In 1926, the United States Highway System was designated, with US 80 colocated from El Paso to Dallas and US 67 from Dallas to Texarkana. Anzalduas Port Of Entry
The Anzalduas Port of Entry opened on December 15, 2009, with the completion of the Anzalduas International Bridge. The bridge is over three miles long and cost over $28 million to build. It was designed to divert traffic from the congested Hidalgo Texas Port of Entry. The presidential permit under which the bridge was constructed prohibited commercial traffic from using it until 2015, or when the Hidalgo Port of Entry averages more than 15,000 commercial entries per week. Commercial trucks and pedestrians continue to be prohibited from entering the US via this crossing; however, empty trucks may travel southbound to Mexico. The bridge has a dedicated commuter lane (SENTRI) that is open on restricted hours and frequently open to general public during high traffic hours without notice, making it almost useless. Pharr–Reynosa International Bridge
The Pharr–Reynosa International Bridge ( es, Puente Internacional Reynosa–Pharr) is an international bridge across the Rio Grande, along the U.S.–Mexico border. It connects the city of Pharr in the U.S. state of Texas with the city of Reynosa in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. On the U.S. side, the bridge connects to U.S. Route 281 via Texas State Highway Spur 600. On the Mexico side, it provides access to Mexican Federal Highway 2. The bridge handles both commercial and passenger vehicles. Since 1996, all trucks have been diverted here from the McAllen–Hidalgo–Reynosa International Bridge, which is located upriver to the west.
