Texas State Highway 261
State Highway 261 (SH 261) is a Texas state highway running from SH 29 north along the western side of Lake Buchanan to the old location of SH 29 at Bluffton. This route was designated on March 21, 1938. On August 30, 1957, SH 261 was extended west 1 mile over part of RM 2241, which was rerouted north over RM 2337 so that there was one continuous RM road, rather than two, between Llano and Tow. Buchanan Dam ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Llano County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,519 at the 2010 census, down from 1,688 at the 2000 census. Geography Buchanan Dam is located in northeastern Llano County at (30.764459, -98.454175), on the west and south shores of Lake Buchanan, a reservoir on the Colorado River. The CDP also occupies the south and west shores of Inks Lake, on the Colorado directly downstream from Lake Buchanan. It extends north along Lake Buchanan as far as Bluffton. Texas State Highway 29 passes through the southern part of the CDP, crossing the Colorado River just south of the Buchanan Dam. Highway 29 leads east to Burnet and west to Llano. State Highway 261 leads north from Highway 29 up the west side of Lake Buchanan to Bluffton. Bluffton is an unincorporated community in Llano County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 75 in 2000. The population report in 2011 was 269. State Highway 29 (Texas)
State Highway 29 (SH 29) runs from south of Menard, Texas, east to SH 95 in Circleville (6.0 miles north of Taylor) via Mason, Llano, Burnet, Liberty Hill, and Georgetown in central Texas, United States. In Georgetown, SH 29 is known as University Avenue and is the main east–west artery through the city, passing in front of Southwestern University, which has been on the same road since its Georgetown campus opened in 1873. An open house meeting at East View High School in Georgetown was held on September 1, 2015. The meeting's purpose was to review the upcoming plans on widening SH 29 from 2 lanes (80 ft.) to 6 lanes (160 ft.). Construction will not start until after the Summer of 2016 and will occur from Southwestern Blvd extending all the way to Hwy 95 in Circleville, TX. Lake Buchanan (Texas)
Lake Buchanan () was formed by the construction of Buchanan Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority to provide a water supply for the region and to provide hydroelectric power. Buchanan Dam, a structure over 2 mi (3.2 km) in length, was completed in 1939. Lake Buchanan was the first of the Texas Highland Lakes to be formed, and with of surface water, it is also the largest. The surface of the lake includes area in both Burnet and Llano Counties. The lake is west of the city of Burnet, Texas. The other reservoirs on the Colorado River are Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lady Bird Lake. The lake is named for Representative James P.
