Texas State Highway 14
State Highway 14 (SH 14) is a state highway in the east central region of the U.S. state of Texas. The highway runs from SH 6 south of Bremond to Interstate 45 in Richland. Route description State Highway 14 begins at an intersection with SH 6 about 3 miles southwest of Bremond. The route travels northeastward through Bremond, mainly through farmland in central Texas, passing through the western edge of Kosse and through Groesbeck. It then passes through Mexia, intersecting SH 171 and US 84. It reaches its northern terminus at Interstate 45 on the north side of Richland. The entire route closely parallels the original Southern Pacific (now Union Pacific) railway lines. Richland, Texas
Richland is a town in Navarro County, Texas, United States. The population was 264 at the 2010 census. Geography Richland is located at (31.926052, –96.426350). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. History Richland, at the junction of Interstate 45 and Texas State Highway 14, State Highway 14, on Pisgah Ridge twelve miles south of Corsicana, Texas, Corsicana in south central Navarro County, was first settled in the late 1840s. Asa Chambers had established a store on the trail from Corsicana to Franklin by 1848, when a post office, named Richland Crossing after nearby Richland Creek, opened in his store. State Highway 171 (SH 171) is a southeast–northwest state highway in northeastern Texas, United States, that connects U.S. Highway 84 (US 84) in Mexia with U.S. Highway 180 (US 180) in Weatherford. Route description SH 171 begins at an intersection with US 84 in Mexia, before quickly intersecting State Highway 14. Leaving the town, SH 171 runs northwest to Tehuacana, before running in a more west direction to Coolidge. The highway runs in a northwest direction again, running through the towns of Hubbard and Malone before entering Hillsboro. SH 171 runs through the town overlapped with State Highway 22, before running in a mostly north direction towards Cleburne. Texas State Highway 255
State Highway 255 (SH 255) is state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that allows international traffic to bypass Laredo. Located in Webb County, the highway provides a connection between the Laredo–Colombia Solidarity International Bridge to Interstate 35 (I-35). The route opened in 2000 as the Camino Colombia Toll Road, and was one of the few operating toll roads in the United States to have gone through the legal process of foreclosure. The toll designation was removed from the route in 2017. Route description SH 255 begins at the Laredo–Colombia Solidarity International Bridge on the Mexico–United States border. Bryan is a city and the county seat of Brazos County, Texas, United States. It is located in the heart of the Brazos Valley (East and Central Texas). As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 83,980. Bryan borders the city of College Station, which lies to its south. Together they are referred to as the Bryan–College Station metropolitan area, which has a population of more than 250,069. Franklin is a city and the county seat of Robertson County, Texas, United States. It is within the Brazos Valley on the cusp of East and Central Texas. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 1,614. Geography Franklin lies near the geographic center of the county, on an upland prairie that is drained by the branches of three creeks. Touchstone Branch, to the north, runs westward into Mud Creek; South Mineral Creek drains waters eastward to the Navasota River; and the forks of Cedar Creek run to the south, passing Mount Pleasant, Henry Prairie and Wheelock. Teague, Texas
Teague is a city in Freestone County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,384 at the 2020 census. Settlement The area was first settled around the time of the Civil War. During the latter half of the nineteenth century, a small community known as "Brewer" grew up at the site. In April 1886, a resident wrote that all they needed was a jeweler and shoemaker. The resident went on to inventory all the businesses they had, such as a good dry goods and grocery store, a blacksmith and wood shop, and a barber. Later in 1886, a gin was to open. The 1895 Rand McNally atlas shows Brewer with a post office and no express office or railroad. Also in 1895, Brewer Baptist Church ministered by A. B. Tedder had 109 members. Corsicana is a city in Navarro County, Texas, United States. It is located on Interstate 45, 56 miles northeast of Waco, Texas. The population was 23,770 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Navarro County, and an important Agri-business center. History Founded in 1848, Corsicana was named by José Antonio Navarro after the Mediterranean island of Corsica, the birthplace of his father. He had died when Navarro and his many siblings were young. The first school opened shortly afterwards in 1849. Women's groups have had a strong role throughout the history of the city. They established the Corsicana Female Literary Institute, a school that operated from 1857 through 1870.
