''Texas Plates'' is the second album by the singer-songwriter Vince Bell. It was released on April 13, 1999, and found Bell comfortably ensconced in the upper echelon of the songwriting guild and signed to a major record label. Unfortunately, whatever marketing there was presented him as just another singer-songwriter, as if they were all cut from the same Texan cloth, and the album remains largely unheard. Vince Bell
Vince Bell is a Texas singer-songwriter who has appeared on the PBS television program ''Austin City Limits'' along with NPR broadcasts such as '' Mountain Stage'', '' World Cafe'' and ''Morning Edition''. His songs have been performed and recorded by Little Feat, Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. Early career During the early-1970s Bell became a fixture on the Lone Star music scene. In his hometown of Houston, Texas, Bell shared the stage of Anderson Fair and The Old Quarter nightclub with friends and musical influences Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, both of whom he later called his mentors. By the early-1980s, Bell had begun to carve out a regional reputation for himself. Pat Bergeson
Patrick Bergeson (born March 11, 1961) is an American guitarist, harmonica player and occasional songwriter. Based in Nashville, he is best known for his live and session work with Chet Atkins, Lyle Lovett, Suzy Bogguss and Les Brers. Biography Bergeson was born in Batavia, Illinois, and first started playing drums and later picked up the guitar and the harmonica. He studied music at the University of Illinois in Urbana and then moved to New York City, studied Jazz at William Paterson University and worked in New York for ten years. After hearing him on a demo tape made by Robert Lee Castleman, Chet Atkins invited Bergeson to play on his record '' Sneakin' Around'' with Jerry Reed. Upon Atkins' request Bergeson moved to Nashville and soon established himself as a sought after session and live musician. Cajón
A cajón (; "box", "crate" or "drawer") is a box-shaped percussion instrument originally from Peru, played by slapping the front or rear faces (generally thin plywood) with the hands, fingers, or sometimes implements such as brushes, mallets, or sticks. Cajones are primarily played in Afro-Peruvian music (specifically música criolla), but has made its way into flamenco as well. Al Perkins (born January 18, 1944) is an American guitarist known primarily for his steel guitar work. The Gibson guitar company called Perkins "the world's most influential dobro player" and began producing an "Al Perkins Signature" Dobro in 2001—designed and autographed by Perkins. Early years Al Perkins was born and raised in Texas and learned to play Hawaiian steel guitar at the age of 9. In the 1950s Perkins was considered a child prodigy, playing with regional country and western bands, appearing on TV/radio, and winning several talent contests. E-Bow
The EBow, short for electronic bow or energy bow, is an electronic device used for playing string instruments, most often the electric guitar. It is manufactured by Heet Sound Products, of Los Angeles, California. It was invented by Greg Heet in 1969, introduced in 1976 and patented in 1978. Maura O'Connell
Maura O'Connell (born 16 September 1958) is an Irish singer and actress. She is known for her contemporary interpretations of Irish folk songs, strongly influenced by American country music. Background O'Connell was born in Ennis, the main town in County Clare, in the west of Ireland. Born into a musical family, O'Connell was the third of four sisters.
