''Texas Lightning'' is a 1981 film written and directed by Gary Graver and starring Cameron Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell Jr., Maureen McCormick, and Peter Jason. The film was originally intended as a serious drama that was to be called ''The Boys'', but the producers demanded that Graver re-edit it into a comedy.Information from the DVD commentary Premise A tough, macho, truck driver decides to make his soft son more manly by taking him hunting. Gary Graver
Gary Foss Graver (July 20, 1938 – November 16, 2006) was an American film director, editor, screenwriter and cinematographer. He was a prolific filmmaker, working in various roles on over 300 films, but is best known as Orson Welles' final cinematographer, working over a period of six years on Welles' epic film ''The Other Side of the Wind'' which was released in 2018, 48 years after it was started. Graver began his career in the late 1960s as a cinematographer and editor of various B-movies, including several films by Roger Corman, before providing additional camerawork on John Cassavetes's ''A Woman Under the Influence'' (1974). Tony Joe White
Tony Joe White (July 23, 1943 – October 24, 2018), nicknamed the Swamp Fox, was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his 1969 hit "Polk Salad Annie" and for "Rainy Night in Georgia", which he wrote but which was first made popular by Brook Benton in 1970. He also wrote "Steamy Windows" and "Undercover Agent for the Blues", both hits for Tina Turner in 1989; those two songs came by way of Turner's producer at the time, Mark Knopfler, who was a friend of White. "Polk Salad Annie" was also recorded by Joe Dassin, Elvis Presley, and Tom Jones. Biography Tony Joe White was the youngest of seven children who grew up on a cotton farm near Oak Grove, West Carroll Parish, Louisiana, United States. Hope Holiday (born Hope Jane Zee) is an American actress, perhaps best known for her role as Mrs. Margie MacDougall, Jack Lemmon's partner in self-pity on Christmas Eve night, in the Billy Wilder film ''The Apartment'' (1960).
