Texas Baptist College is a Baptist college in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. It is affiliated with the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Southern Baptist Convention). History The college was founded in 2005 as College at Southwestern by the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. On April 12, 2017, the college was officially renamed The L.R. Scarborough College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in honor of Lee Rutland Scarborough who served as the second seminary President of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In June 2021, the college was renamed from Scarborough College to Texas Baptist College. Dr. Adam Greenway serves as the 9th president of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College. Dr. Todd bates is the current dean of Texas Baptist College, and Dr. Micah D. Carter is the associate dean. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a Christian denomination based in the United States. It is the world's largest Baptist denomination, and the largest Protestant and second-largest Christian denomination in the United States. The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is a Baptist theological institute in Fort Worth, Texas. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. It was established in 1908 and is one of the largest seminaries in the world. Lee Rutland Scarborough
Lee Rutland Scarborough (1870–1945) was an American Southern Baptist pastor, evangelist, denominational leader, and professor at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS). He spent the first 16 years of his life on a ranch and became an adept cowboy. He attended later Baylor University, Yale University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He accepted the invitation of B. H. Carroll in 1908 to occupy the world's first academic chair of evangelism, "The Chair of Fire," at SWBTS, (also known as the L. R. Scarborough Chair of Evangelism) and chaired the seminary's department of evangelism. In February 1915, following the death of B. H.
