''Tevye and His Seven Daughters'' ( he, טוביה ושבע בנותיו, translit. Tuvia Vesheva Benotav) is a 1968 Israeli drama film directed by Menahem Golan. Based on stories by Sholem Aleichem, which were also the basis for the stage musical and 1971 film, both titled ''Fiddler on the Roof''. Plot The film is about a poor Russian Jew named Tevye who tries to make a living. When he slowly lands money, he attempts to get his daughters married. Menahem Golan
Menahem Golan ( he, מנחם גולן; May 31, 1929 – August 8, 2014, originally Menachem Globus) was an Israeli film producer, screenwriter, and director. He was best known for co-owning The Cannon Group with his cousin Yoram Globus. Cannon specialized in producing low-to-mid-budget American films, primarily genre films, during the 1980s after Golan and Globus had achieved significant filmmaking success in their native Israel during the 1970s. Golan produced films featuring actors such as Sean Connery, Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Charles Bronson, and for a period, was known as a producer of comic book-style films like ''Masters of the Universe'', '' Superman IV: The Quest for Peace'', ''Captain America'', and his aborted attempt to bring Spider-Man to the silver screen. Robert Hoffmann (30 August 1939 – 4 July 2022) was an Austrian actor, best known to British audiences for his title role performance in ''The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe'' (1964). Hoffmann was born in Salzburg. ''Crusoe'' was his screen debut, but he later worked in film (including a number of giallo horror-thrillers) and TV throughout Europe, in Germany, Italy, France the UK, and appeared in films by directors such as Marcel Carné, Antonio Pietrangeli, Robert Siodmak, and Robert Enrico.
