Çankırı, historically known as Gangra (Greek language, Greek: Γάγγρα), is the capital city of Çankırı Province, in Turkey, about northeast of Ankara. It is situated about 800 m (2500 ft) above sea level. History Çankırı was known in antiquity as Gangra ( el, Γάγγρα), and later Germanicopolis ( el, Γερμανικόπολις). The city has also been known as Changra, Kandari or Kanghari Α town of Paphlagonia that appears to have been once the capital of Paphlagonia and a princely residence, for it is known from Strabo that Deiotarus Philadelphus (before 31 BC–5/6 AD), the last king of Paphlagonia, resided there. Farewell To False Paradise
''Farewell to False Paradise'' (german: Abschied vom falschen Paradies) is a 1989 German drama film, directed by Tevfik Başer. The film won one award and was nominated for another at the 1989 German Film Awards. Plot Elif, the widow of a Turkish migrant worker in Germany, has been sentenced to six years in prison for killing her husband. She is sent to a prison in Hamburg which at first serves as a dark setting of claustrophobia, punishment, and isolation. Her perception then changes as she encounters female solidarity which contrasts with her previous domestic life under patriarchal restrictions as a Muslim-Turkish wife. Having escaped her restrictive life by killing her husband, Elif begins to view the prison as a kind of paradise where she is able to develop a new female identity. While imprisoned, she learns to speak German, cuts her long hair, sheds her traditional headscarf, and gradually adopts the style of a Westernized woman who wears jeans and sneakers. ''40 qm Deutschland'' ( en, 40 Square Meters of Germany, link=yes) is a 1986 West German film directed by Tevfik Başer, who helped both with the script and the production. The film won several awards making it one of the most significant German movies of 1986. Production 40 qm Deutschland was first released on 31 July 1986. The shooting of the movie took 21 days, but the following editing seven weeks. With only 450,000 DM (c. US$280,000) spent on its output, it was a low-budget production. The only setting is a 40 m2 apartment in an old building in Hamburg. Başer, who was chasing a vision he had been fostering for some time, procured the production, the script, the direction, the crew and the location almost all by himself. The church musician Claus Banzer ended up being in charge of the music, Izzet Akay was trusted with the camera and the lead actress Özay Fecht was already known as a jazz singer.
