Teufels Großmutter
''Teufels Großmutter'' (''Devil's Grandmother'') is a twelve-part German/Swiss comedy television series which ran for one season in 1985 and 1986. Co-produced by SF DRS in Switzerland and ZDF in Germany, it was scripted by Justus Pfaue and directed by Rob Herzet, premiered in August 1985 on DRS and was subsequently broadcast on ORF and in 1986 on ZDF. The series, particularly the performance of Horney as the grandmother, was acclaimed in newspapers such as the ''Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung'', ''Bild am Sonntag'' and ''Hannoversche Allgemeine''. ''Teufels Großmutter'' was issued on DVD in July 2007. Setting and cast The series is about the worries and joys of the three-generation Teufel family in Berlin, who run a boatyard. The head of the family is grandmother Dorothea Teufel, played by Brigitte Horney. The male lead, Dorothea's ex-husband Friedrich-Heinrich, was played by Peter Pasetti. Brigitte Horney
Brigitte Horney (, 29 March 1911 – 27 July 1988) was a German theatre and film actress. Best remembered was her role as Empress Katherine the Great in the 1943 version of the UFA film version of '' Baron Münchhausen'', directed by Josef von Báky, with Hans Albers in the title role. Life and work Brigitte Horney was born and grew up in Dahlem, Berlin, the daughter of noted psychoanalyst Karen Horney. She was, for more than a decade, engaged with Berlin's Volksbühne. When she accepted the starring role in the highly popular film '' Love, Death and the Devil'' (1934), a new star was born with the ''Leitmotif'' song "So oder so ist das Leben". Horney was a good friend of the actor Joachim Gottschalk and appeared in four films with him. KiKA (contraction of ''Der KinderKAnal von ARD und ZDF'' ARD and ZDF">ARD_(broadcaster).html" ;"title="he Children's Channel of ARD (broadcaster)">ARD and ZDF]) is a German free-to-air television channel based in Erfurt, Germany.
