Robert Tessier
Robert W. Tessier (June 2, 1934 – October 11, 1990) was an American actor and stuntman who was best known for playing heavy, menacing characters in films and on television. Early life Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, of Abenaki and French descent, Tessier served as a paratrooper in the Korean War earning both a Silver Star and Purple Heart. Performing career Tessier was an accomplished motorcycle rider doing stunts in the circus. These skills helped him secure his first film role in ''The Born Losers'' directed by Tom Laughlin. With his shaven head, size and threatening appearance, Tessier went on to play a series of villainous roles on both TV and in film. Tessier starred as the menacing convict "Connie Shokner" in the 1974 comedy-drama '' The Longest Yard'' with Burt Reynolds (whom he counted as one of his friends) and as Kevin in '' The Deep''. Albert Tessier ((); March 6, 1895 – September 13, 1976) was a French-speaking Canadian priest, historian and a film maker. He was born on in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade, Mauricie. Life as a Priest and Educator He was ordained priest by Monsignor François-Xavier Cloutier in June 1920 and received a PhD in Theology in Rome in 1922. He moved back to his native area in 1924 and began a career as a teacher and professor of history and literature. In 1937, he replaced Thomas Chapais and took over the Chair in History of Canada at the Université Laval. Promoting Local Identity Tessier was known to be very proud of his area of origin. Dan Tessier (born January 3, 1979) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre who last played for the Nottingham Panthers of the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). He was featured in the first season of '' Making the Cut: Last Man Standing'', a hockey-based reality show which aired in 2004. Ulric-Joseph Tessier
Ulric-Joseph Tessier (May 3, 1817 – April 7, 1892) was a Quebec lawyer, judge, seigneur, and politician who was a member of the Senate of Canada representing the Gulf division from 1867 to 1873 and served as mayor of Quebec City from 1853 to 1854. He was born Joseph-Ulric Tessier in Quebec City in 1817 and studied at the Petit Séminaire de Québec. He articled in law with Hector-Simon Huot and was admitted to the bar in 1839. Tessier was elected to city council in 1846. The following year, he married Marguerite-Adèle Kelly, heiress to the seigneury of Rimouski. In 1851, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Portneuf. He helped found the North Shore Railway in 1853 and, in 1858, the Banque Nationale, serving as its first president. Orval Tessier
Orval Roy Tessier (June 30, 1933 – August 25, 2022) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and coach who played parts of three seasons in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins between 1954 and 1960, appearing in a total of 59 regular season games. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1953 to 1965, was spent in the minor leagues, where he was a solid offensive player. He won two scoring titles with the Eastern Professional Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, and was voted the league's most valuable player and most sportsmanlike player in the 1961–62 season. François-Xavier Tessier
François-Xavier Tessier (September 15, 1799 – December 24, 1835) was a doctor, publisher, and political figure in Lower Canada. He was born in the town of Quebec in 1799. He studied medicine for several years and was qualified to practice as a surgeon in 1820. At the recommendation of the medical board of examiners, he studied medicine at a university in New York and was qualified as a doctor in 1823. In the same year, he was named apothecary for the Quebec Emigrant Hospital. In 1824, he was named assistant surgeon for the militia. In 1826, he established a bimonthly medical publication, ''Quebec Medical Journal/Journal de médecine de Québec''; it was published until the fall of 1827. Jules Tessier (April 16, 1852 – January 6, 1934) was a Canadian lawyer and politician. He was born in Quebec City, Quebec, the son of Ulric-Joseph Tessier and Mariane Perrault. He was educated at the Quebec seminary and at the Jesuit college in Montreal, and was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1874. He was created a Queen's Counsel in 1899. A practising lawyer, he ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Quebec City in 1894. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in the riding of Portneuf in the 1886 election. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1890, 1892, 1897, and acclaimed in 1900. From 1897 to 1901, he was Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
