Tesnatee Creek is a stream in Georgia, and is a tributary of the Chestatee River. The creek heads in a southwesterly direction for approximately 2.6 miles, crosses U.S. Route 129 northwest of Cleveland, and makes a brief turn to the west as it picks up Cox Creek from the east, then turns back to the southwest for another 2.6 miles, picking up two unnamed branches on its way to its meeting with Town Creek. Lumpkin County, Georgia
Lumpkin County is a county located in the north central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 33,488. Its county seat is Dahlonega. History This area was settled by the Cherokee, who also occupied areas of what became delimited as southeastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. Lumpkin County was created on December 3, 1832. The county was named for Wilson Lumpkin, who at the time was Governor of Georgia. Lumpkin's daughter, Martha Wilson Lumpkin Compton, was the namesake of the town named Marthasville, the early-1840s name for Atlanta in Fulton County; this was designated as the capital of the state after the Civil War. In the 1830s, gold was discovered in the county near Auraria, leading to a rush of miners and development. The ACF River Basin is the drainage basin, or watershed, of the Apalachicola River, Chattahoochee River, and Flint River, in the Southeastern United States. Wahoo Creek-Little River (Chattahoochee River)
Wahoo Creek-Little River is a watershed in northeastern Georgia, encompassing three separate streams and four sub-watersheds, all of which come together and flow into Lake Lanier north of Gainesville. All three streams, namely Wahoo Creek, West Fork Little River, and East Fork Little River, rise in the very southwestern corner of White County, west of U.S. Route 129, and flow through Lumpkin County and Hall County into Lake Lanier. Town Creek is a stream in Georgia, and is a tributary of Tesnatee Creek, which in turns is a tributary of the Chestatee River. Chestatee River
The Chestatee River (variant spellings Chestatie, Chestetee, Chostatee, Chosteta, Chestotee; none in modern use) is a file geodatabase (GDB) at ftp://rockyftp.cr.usgs.gov/vdelivery/Datasets/Staged/Hydro/FileGDB101/ river in the Appalachian Mountains of northern Georgia, USA. The word "Chestatee" is a Cherokee word meaning roughly "pine torch place" or "place of lights", because they would use bonfires along the riverbanks to light their torches. They would then use these torches for hunting deer and other wild game in the forest. The Chestatee Regional Library System takes its name from the river, as do Chestatee High School and Middle School in Gainesville.
