Terry Whitthread
Terry Whitthread (born 7 July 1964) is an English former professional snooker player. He won the 1980 British Junior (under 16) snooker championship. After winning the 1985 English Amateur Championship by defeating Jim McNellan 13–3 in the final, he played professionally from 1986 to 1992. He never reached as far as a quarter-final whilst a professional; His highest ranking was 100. Career Whitthread won the 1980 British Junior (under 16) snooker championship. At 14, he was one of a group of players known as the "Magnificent Seven" managed by Henry West, the others being Patsy Fagan, John Virgo, Joe Johnson, Tony Knowles, Tony Meo, and Jimmy White. Aged 15, he recorded a 3–1 win over 1979 World Champion Terry Griffiths at the Warners Holidays tournament in 1980. Whitthread was regarded as an outstanding prospect, but did not achieve the level of success that was predicted. Terry Griffiths
Terence Martin Griffiths (born 16 October 1947) is a Welsh retired professional snooker player and current snooker coach and pundit. In his second professional tournament, he became world champion when he won the 1979 World Snooker Championship. He was the second qualifier to win the title after Alex Higgins achieved the feat in 1972; only Shaun Murphy has done it since, winning the title in 2005. Griffiths defeated Dennis Taylor by 24 to 16 in the final. Nine years later, in 1988, Griffiths reached the final of the competition again. He was tied with Steve Davis at 8–8, but lost the match 11–18. Griffiths reached at least the quarter-finals of the World Championship for nine consecutive years from 1984 to 1992. Dennis Hughes (born 30 January 1937) is an English former professional snooker player. He played professionally from 1981 to 1994. Career Hughes was accepted as a member by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) in 1981. His first professional tournament was the 1981 International Open, where he defeated Jackie Rea 5–4 in the first qualifying round before being eliminated 1–5 by Bert Demarco. He lost to Mike Hallett 6–9 in qualifying for at the 1981 UK Championship and 2–3 at the 1982 Bass and Golden Leisure Classic. Paul Mifsud
Paul Mifsud is a Maltese former professional snooker player. Career Mifsud turned professional in 1983, and in the primitive world rankings at this time, was placed 49th. He was relegated from the snooker tour two seasons later, and has since competed as an amateur. Mifsud's most notable performance was in reaching the last 32 of the 1984 World Championship, where he lost 2–10 to Terry Griffiths. The IBSF World Snooker Championship (also known as the World Amateur Snooker Championship) is the premier non-professional snooker tournament in the world. The event series is sanctioned by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation. The 1979 World Snooker Championship (also known as the 1979 Embassy World Snooker Championship for sponsorship reasons) was a ranking professional snooker tournament that took place from 16 to 28 April 1979 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. Organised by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), it was the third consecutive World Snooker Championship to be held at the Crucible, the first tournament having taken place in 1977. James Warren White (born 2 May 1962) is an English professional snooker player who has won three seniors World titles. Nicknamed "The Whirlwind" because of his fluid, attacking style of play, White is the 1980 World Amateur Champion, 2009 Six-red World champion, 3 time World Seniors Champion ( 2010, 2019, 2020), 2019 Seniors 6-Red World Champion and 1984 World Doubles champion with Alex Higgins.
