Terence Smith (born 20 May 1943) is a British jazz guitarist. Biography Twice winner of the Melody Maker Music Polls, Smith spent the early 1960s playing with the Tony Lee Trio, before becoming Scott Walker's musical director and accompanying The Walker Brothers on their Japan tour in 1968. Returning to the UK, he recorded a solo album, ''Fall Out'' (1968), which was produced by Scott Walker, and backed by UK jazz musicians of the day such as Kenny Wheeler, Les Condon, Ronnie Ross, Ronnie Stephenson, Gordon Beck, Ron Mathewson, Chris Karan, and Ray Warleigh. Smith went on to join the US soul singer J.J. Jackson's Greatest Little Soul Band in the Land, with whom he recorded two LPs: '' The Greatest Little Soul Band in the Land'' (1969) and ''J.J. Terry Smith (born Terence Edwin Smith in Geelong, Victoria, 1944) is an Australian art historian, art critic and artist who currently lives and works in Pittsburgh, New York and Sydney. Since 2001 he has been Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Contemporary Art History and Theory in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh. He also serves as a board member of The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. Education Smith was a student at Melbourne High School, where he won a General Exhibition in the 1962 Matriculation examinations. Between 1963 and 1967, he studied at the University of Melbourne, where he studied art history under Professor Sir Joseph Burke, Franz Philipp and Bernard Smith. Terry Smith (born 1956) is a British-born artist living in London, England. In 2008, Smith was a recipient of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Artists. He is known for his carvings into the plaster of walls, mainly in derelict buildings and spaces. Works Smith notably held the keys to Tate Turbine Hall during the building of the hall in 1995–6, having been given permission to create his sculptures in the walls and spaces of the hall. Only the staff at the Tate and a few invitees were permitted access to the works areas inside the Turbine Hall and other areas of the building site to see Smith's work. Images of these works at Tate Modern were later shown at the South London Gallery in July–August 1996 for a group show called "Inside Bankside". Terry Smith (6 February 1959 – 19 September 2006) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League. Smith was recruited from Tyntynder (a small town near Swan Hill) and debuted with the Richmond Football Club in 1980. He tasted success immediately, being part of Richmond's 1980 premiership side playing off half-back. In 1983 he moved to the St Kilda Football Club where he made a name for himself as a ruck-rover, and after three seasons with the Saints, he returned to Richmond for his final VFL season in 1986.
