Terry Luttrell
Terry Luttrell (born 1947 Champaign, Illinois) is an American rock singer/musician best known as lead vocalist for both REO Speedwagon (1968–1972) and Starcastle (1973–1979). Bands Luttrell had played guitar with a local Champaign band, Terry Cook and the Majestics, in the early to mid-1960s. In 1968, Terry joined REO Speedwagon, replacing Mike Blair on vocals, at the University of Illinois. He sang on the band's debut album, which was released in October 1971 on Epic Records. Personal differences between Luttrell and REO Speedwagon's lead guitarist, Gary Richrath, led to Luttrell leaving the band in 1972. He was replaced by Kevin Cronin before the recording of the second album, '' R.E.O./T.W.O.'' Although not given credit, Luttrell claims he co-wrote the song ''Golden Country'' with Gary Richrath. ''Real to Reel'' is the fourth studio album by American progressive rock band Starcastle. It was their final release on Epic Records. Reception Real to Reel marked a drastic change of direction from their previous progressive rock efforts to a more album-oriented rock sound. It was a commercial failure, generally panned by critics and fans alike and ultimately led to Starcastle disbanding. Fountains of Light is the second studio album by American progressive rock band Starcastle. It was their first of two albums to be produced by Roy Thomas Baker, of Queen renown. Production While driving to Le Studio on icy mountain roads, the band was following Roy Thomas Baker in their own vehicle and was involved in a car accident that sent bassist Gary Strater to the hospital. ''Starcastle'' is the first studio album by American progressive rock band Starcastle. Reception Paul Collins of AllMusic gave the album three stars out of five. He commented that the album was a "decent enough debut" but also said that later records would show that the band was capable of better.
